I can see this picking up a following. With features like having everyone glowing in their team color and not showing the gun on screen, it seems like they're aiming for the pro-gaming crowd. I like Trackmania, and if it has the same level of quality as that (and so far it looks like it will), I'm sure it will be fun.
I can say from experience playing the beta that it's a very, very fun shooter, so much better than Call of Duty despite there only being three weapons (two of them only usable situationally). I dare say it could be one of the biggest competitive games in years, Nadeo and Ubisoft seem to be pushing it hard as a competitive game. It's simple, yet wonderfully deep.
There's also Quest Mania on the horizon. Track Mania for RP Gs.
Jonah FalconNow that really has me intrigued. RPG's aren't as simple to do as Shooters or Racing, so I'd be interested in seeing what the editor for that one is like.
The fact that Shootmania only has three weapons sounds interesting. It sounds like they're boiling down the FPS genre to it's simplest actions (walk around, jump, aim at someone, click the mouse button). I like simple, so this game appeals to me.
I can't believe there's no topic for this.
Okay. It's Track Mania, except as a First-Person Shooter. Make your own levels from the ground up. Make your own rules. Make your own shooter. Basically a building tool that's as easy to use as Track Mania.
They just announced at PAX Prime that two game modes, Royal and Elite, will be free-to-play at launch.
