My character Michi has been collection all sorts of fighting knowledge and skills for 800 years or so, and as of late he has the chance of encountering people who have memory-altering abilities.

Now, rather than use these powers to erase memories of where he's from, who he is, etc., I was thinking of potentially having someone destroy his learned procedural memories, i.e., his accumulated martial arts training but not the knowledge. Like, if you were to ask him after this how to defend against someone swinging a sword down at your head, he'd be able to tell you any number of things to do, why they work, etc. But he wouldn't be able to actually do it.

Of course, he could relearn these techniques over time, but it would take the same amount of time to get back up to speed.
