Don't sub to them?
I don't see how that's something that requires you to do something personally.
Google is a company based in America right would the law effect them
You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price.Yes, because the law affects where you do business. And if your clients are in Europe, then you're considered as doing business there. Otherwise you're liable to being prosecuted and blocked from doing business there.
It's why you got a million emails from all your providers about their privacy policies updating last month. Coz the EU's own privacy laws went into effects.
Since this law will also affect the US could our government dispute it?
I personally am of the opinion that the internet should be granted limited sovereignty
You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price. Not really. I mean they can lobby like any government can lobby any other government's laws, but that's about it.
Ultimately Youtube would either have to make sure the content Europeans have access meet the European laws (Even if it means segregating non-conforming content or applying the standard across their either platform) or stop servicing Europe altogether.
It's worth pointing out that this law has little effect on Youtube as Youtube has a form of copyright ID already. It'd be a bigger issue for smaller sites / forums and the likes of reddit and imgur who'd be expected to also police their content for content ID.

What if they deliberately make the filters ineffectual.
You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price. Then its up for courts and law people to decide based on how the law is worded.
So... this Tanacon controversy that seems to be sweeping the site...
EDIT: Seems to have been quite the fustercluck. I'm skimming this 30-minute monster from Here For The Tea, but so far it's the most comprehensive account of what the frack actually happened.
Philip defranco's done a "summary video" for it too, with an "ah crap, I have to talk about this" look on his face.
And ah, Pewdiepie's done a video on it too. Anyway.
So, Tana had a bad experience at something called Vidcon and decided to make her own convention called "Tanacon" for all Youtube creators like herself. It was supposed to have a 5,000-person limit but ended up drawing in a crowd of 20,000. People were stuck outside without water or shade, the registration process started later than projected, and ultimately the event was cancelled after hours of waiting.
There's some debate over whether Tana conned everyone and there were fewer people there than specified, or if the event was genuinely overpopulated. Some people are demanding refunds, some are making Youtube experiences talking about how bad their experience was, some are doing both.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Sounds like Dashcon and Las Pegasus Unicorn.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Don't forget the mess that was Fyre Festival. On an unrelated note is there a thread where we can give feedback on the site update? Because there's some issues I have with the new formatting that I'd like to discuss.
So who is this Tana person? I watched the video and I'm still confused.
Tana Mongeau... your guess is as good as mine. She seems to be a Youtube personality who... does Youtube things.
I've never watched her content so I can't say much more than that.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Her most probably claim to fame was being destroyed by iDubbbzTV in a Content Cop. Before that, she was a rather run of the mill storytime youtuber and that even was more or less her only noteworthy event.
Until now i guess. I expect a lot of the "Say Nigger" jokes to return and man did that joke lost it's charm a long time ago.
Uni catAll I know about her is that the only reason Tanacon was a thing is that she was angry that she didn't get the extra security at vidcon so they could move about free-er. Her reasoning essentially boiled down to "because I'm such a big deal and I deserve this, how dare you" so she made her own con in the span of a few months.
I read about what happened to Tana-con on the BBC. She had creative differences with the organizers of Vidcon so she created her own con as an alternative to Vidcon.
Unfortunately she underestimated have many people would come to her con and due to poor planning and security reasons, it had to shut down.
If there's one thing i learn about this, is that if your gonna do a convention, get a professional to handle it so they won't be problems with overcrowding and security issues.
Yeah I suspect that Cox Con working well is the exception not the rule, and it probably only works because it’s not in North America and is at a convention center with lots of extra room if needed, hell the one in London didn’t work as planned and even the first Telford one had issues with overrunning local businesses (Nando’s aparently got eaten out of chicken and Weatherspoons almost ran out of booze).

"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranInternet Historian has covered a lot of cons that have gone really sour.
He covered Dashcon, Rainfurrest and Fyre Festival so far
Uni catGod I hate than 2nd one based on the pun alone.
To be fair an con that is held in a rainforest would be pretty cool.
It would be ridiculously hard to pull off though.
Oh yeah, coz that's what the rainforest needs, an army of con-goers throwing trash all over and trampling over the place.
And diapers.
I still don't know why there is certain part of that fandom that wear diapers. Ugh

Uni catI heard the diaper thing was because those particular diapers made a certain sound when walking or something along those lines. Yeah, I don't get it either.
