I'm working on a story about a day when nearly all conspiracies theories were revealed to be true but I came across a few problems.

1. How would this info get leaked and why would anybody believe it?

2. Which conspiracies are true?

3. What would happen to the world at large after the conspiracies were revealed?

Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook.

Question: What do you mean by "nearly all conspiracies theories were revealed to be true"? You do realize that some conspiracies have multiple (and usually incompatible) theories addressing them, right?

For example the JFK assassination has at least 100 different theories addressing the matter. My personal favorite one is "Oswald killed JFK due to mental impairment stemming from an addiction to refined sugar, as evidenced by his need for his favorite beverage immediately after the assassination."

But to answer you questions...

1. Starts on and/or gains a following on the Internet. This inspires a lone nut-job/selfless martyr attempt and fail at assassinating someone associated with the conspiracy. Despite, the Mainstream Media (who are obviously under the thumb of the conspirators) trying to spin the story, a snafu happens and the conspiracy gains public notoriety. The conspirators panic and attempt and fail at covering things up, and proceed to make things worse for them in the process (Think Nixon's handling of the Watergate Scandal). Eventually, things come to things come to an end and the truth gets out.

2. All the big ones. Bonus points for making the Illuminati a Red Herring that the conspirators had created to lure people away from the truth.

3. Your choice. Your four main choices are.....

grinHAPPY ENDING: Humanity overthrows the conspirators, the hero is happy, and humanity looks forward to a bright and free fugue.

sadBITTERSWEET ENDING: Humanity stages a bloody coup against conspirators but at a great cost (think nuclear warfare). While, humanity is now free nothing is like it once was, and many doubts are held about the future.

evil grinDOWNER ENDING: Either a) Humanity fails to topple the conspirators, the hero is killed/wishes he was dead, and humanity begins to cope with the fact they are just puppets on a string (This can be used as social commentary), or b) We overthrow the conspirators only to learn how much we needed them, and how they were protecting us from some Awful Truth , or protecting us from ourselves. And finally option c) The Hero and/or his friends/allies take the place of the conspirators (possibly with noble intentions) and are just as bad as them, if not worse.(includes an obligatory "absolute power corrupts absolutely" Aesop).

tongueTWIST ENDING: To name some possibilities.....

a)It was all a dream (OR WAS IT?)

b) The hero was once part of the conspiracy.

c) The author (you) was the leader of the conspirators and the Awful Truth / Big Conspiracy is that there just characters in a story.

d) It was all part of the conspirator's Xanatos Gambit and the hero and/or some of his key allies may have been in on it.

Everything is Possible. But somethings are more Probable than others.

I would read Illumantis if you han't already, because it pretty much plays the "All conspiracies are true" angle. It also doesn't take itself very seriously, which makes it work.

One character in particularly is actually a member of four or five different conspiracies. At one point he wasn't even sure which one he was really working for, if he wasn't working for all of them.

I've worked myself up from nothing to a state of extreme poverty.

Read GURPS: Illuminati. All sorts of fun conspiracies in there. Also, I think part of the fun of writing conspiracy is that there will be contradictions, strange connections and things that just plain old don't make any sense. Everything is true, yet everything is false...

To get a feeling for what I'm talking about, here is a (probably) fictional conspiracy theory:

The Knights Templar controls the National Guard, and uses it to recruit new members. But wait—the Freemasons also control the National Guard, even though they are mortal enemies with the Knights Templar. And they are both trying to use it against Wizards of the Coast, which is actually an alliance between the Greys and Satan. This conflict is why DC Comics is still in business...
