Oh boy.
Thats what we need. Smartphone shit to completely take over not only portable gaming, but consoles too.
And it's probably going to e overloaded with shitty games just like smartphones. I like my fucking Wii people. It's bad enough that the 3DS is being crapped on by shit like this.
I highly doubt most smartphone titles will transfer over well. I imagine that running on Android is solely because it is an established, open-source platform.
Doesn't change the fact it'll be filled to the brim with a bunch of shitty "apps"
Also I'll laugh if Microsoft buys this out.

As long as they make it easy for people to filter out low-rated titles, I don't see the problem.
Doesn't change the fact that the "killer app" of this is fucking Minecraft
Its a smart phone with a controller.
Thats it.
Just get a DVI -> HDMI converter and a wired 360 controller and we have an Ouya.

Except how it costs more money to do that than to spend $99 on the system, and most games on smartphones aren't built to use the controller, right?

Not really. You can get those things for under 30 bucks.
If you mean the phone. Well a phone can do much much more than just play angry birds.
And even so, what does that change?
All I see is a emulator platform, and if that happens, these guys will be sued into next week.

I meant everything combined. And, last I checked, a wired 360 controller runs you $60. At least, that's what my local Wal-Mart told me last month.
Point is, if this is as obvious of a flop as you're saying, why would it be backed by industry veterans and powerhouses like Unity and Mojang?
Unity being a major point here. They're a major indie engine - if they allow exporting to Ouya, a lot of good titles will be coming in.
This is either going to be awesome or an utter disaster.
No middle ground.
I wouldn't call Mojang a veteren or a powerhouse.
I didn't list the veterans.
But Mojang is a powerhouse within the indie market, which seems to be the primary group they're calling for with the system.
In the end, I agree with .

They got lucky with one game.
And I never heard of Unity.
It's your own fault for not having heard of Unity. Doesn't change their size.
Google exists for a reason.

I don't own a smart phone so I can only assume that is what they make.
I did google. I see a bunch of flash games.

Unity? No.
They're an engine that exports to PC, Mac, 360, PS 3, their proprietary webplayer, Android and iOS, and soon they'll have Linux and Flash support. You've probably played games made with it without knowing.
I never played Family Guy Online, Battle Star Galactica Online or PGA Tour Online.
Just looked at their website.
Never played nor heard of a single game there.

They can't logistically list every game made by the 500K+ devs that use the engine (and that number's a year old, too).
But this console isn't even about Unity, so I'm done defending them here.
Either way. I need proof that this is more than a glorified android tablet with a controller.
Then wait for them to release the console. It's fully funded, so you just have to wait for March 2013.
Assuming they actually do this.
Endless Space...you played that Thorn...
Give me cute or give me...something?If they aren't gonna do this, then Kickstarter is dead.
Fair enough. Not exactly very indicative of the engine though.
I think kickstarter is relying on doublefine.

Honestly, people are going to eat this up. Console gaming might be destroyed by this thing.
