The servant nods, and scurries off. Bran looks at the Rose Singer, and says, "Wh-what good would you get f-from talking p-p-politics with a s-simple bastard boy like me..."

Rodrik smiled with as much false grace as he could find. If he did not leave this man's side in the next half a minute he might kill something. "I think not, my prince, I have been before, and it does not hold kind memories. I shall be in my tent, flying my House's banner and welcome to visitors, and when your father wishes to see me he can send for me. It is a king's prerogative to keep lesser men waiting, but with three kings running around at once it's no wonder this war has dragged on for ten years."

Brysanna was starting to feel hungry, and she was desperate to change the subject. "Say, Elrys, why don't I get some food for us?" she said. "If a battle is indeed on the horizon, we'll want to be well-nourished for it."

Edderion inclines his head, "I hope you enjoyed our conversation as much as I have. My father will send someone to your tent when he is ready."

Elrys smiles, "That would be wonderful, sis!"

Maylas smirks, hooking his arm through Brandon's and leading him towards the stairs. "If you want to know the real measure of man, ask his inferiors. It's the ones a Lord doesn't fear or respect that can tell you his true character." He pauses by a window, reaching his hand out it slightly to brush away the light dusting of summer snow from a wilted blue flower growing over the seal. Smiling slightly he closed his fingers around the stem and twisted it free, tucking it gingerly into his lapel. "What can you tell me about your nuncel's bannermen?"

Summoning all that remained of his courtesy, Rodrik smiled and gave a slight nod. "It was most illuminating to hear your take on things. You have given me much to discuss with his grace."

Meeting his waiting men outside the hall, Rodrik made to leave the castle. Petyr was waiting in the courtyard with his grisly work displayed proudly on a flagpole at his side. Rodrik gave it a cursory glance as if to evaluate it. He did not look at the face, but the corner of his eye caught its boneless features and bile rose in his throat. He choked it back, and commended the skinner on his work. It was a disgusting practice his House was famed for, but it served a purpose in times like these. It was a warning to enemies both within and without that there are fates worse than death.

He lingered briefly in the courtyard in case anyone should want him before he returned to camp.

So Brysanna left the armoury to find a cook, although she hadn't the slightest idea where to go. Suddenly, a hand touched her shoulder.

If there's a way out, there's a way in. Mayhaps we could lower a few in with ropes if some of us were willing to act as counterweights, but do we have the ropes? If we did, would they be strong enough or long enough?

"Think like a wildling, Mart" he heard his great-uncle Harald Dayne say across the years "if you can see with their eyes and think with their minds you can beat them". Mart closed his eyes. How would the wildlings go about this?

No, it was stupid, wasteful, and unduly dangerous. It would never work.

Bran bites his lower lip before saying, "I... I haven't interacted much with them... I mean, m-mother doesn't l-let him... Sh-she thinks they'll look down on me..."

After awhile, a messenger shows up at Rodrik's tent, and announces that the King is ready to speak with him.

Elrys taps Brysanna's shoulder, "I felt like joining you, since I finished the sword I was working with. You don't mind, sis, right?"

The rangers spread out to look for any ways down, but have no luck, initially.

Winterfell, ~6pm

Rodrik walks into the king's chamber and kneels.

"Your Grace. My lord brother sent me to be of service in the war effort."

"Oh, uh, of course," Brysanna said, a little flustered. "Do you know where to find a cook?"

Robert Ashford, eldest and yet shortest of the three talkative young men of Mart's group, had an idea. "The winds blow to the south from the north, that's how we saw and smelt the smoke. Let's travel to the southern side of this depression and drop all our ropes. If we braid our ropes together, it will be strong enough to hold an Aurochs and long enough to reach the ground. The winds and the cold will freeze the ropes, they'll contract, and be bound even tighter. We'll be able to climb down."

"Provided we have something heavy to act as a counterweight." Replied Brass Ben.

Maylas considered for a moment, nodding vaguely. He began to question more heavily, quizzing Brandon on the various noble houses of the North and their relation with one another, and most importantly, with House Stark. Finally the returned to his room and Maylas released the squire, brushing through the door and heading to go dig in his wardrobe. "And what of the Wildlings? What do you know of them?" Maylas had heard the stories of course, but being a singer he also knew that good a story was like a good whore, more value on entertainment then truth.

"Not a bad idea" says Robin as he approaches the group of me, hand grasping his chin in thought as he looked over the edge of the elevation and down to the Wildling camp "We position archers up here, draw the Wildlings towards the elevation and into range, the fighters down there mop up the rest. Only problem with the plan is that there is no way to retreat in battle in case things go sour for those down below. Once down the fighters are not going up unless the enemy force is decimated..."

"Still, it's the best plan I've heard all morning. If the Rangers don't find another way down we'll be going with it after getting an estimate on their numbers and whenever the men we can spare down there can reasonably beat the force"

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.
