This slickster had one of the best theme songs ever.
Yes, he's the chief
He's the king
But above everything:
He's the most tip top. Top Cat!
TC was my dad's favorite cartoon character as a kid. I didn't like him quite as much, but he was still one of the better shows we got rerun when I was a kid.
The movie was the one where Benny inherited a fortune right? Eh, it wasn't terrible.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I think you're referring to the Made-for-TV Movie Top Cat and the Beverly Hills cats. That one was okay indeed, but the one I was talking about is the "2011 3D Mexican flash-animated action-comedy film":
Well, that is most certainly a not-promising trailer.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I never liked Top Cat. He must be my least-liked HB character, in fact. After all he was a thief and his enemy was a cop, and this was supposed to be Ok just because he was cool? No.
At least the movie isn't another live action hybrid. *ugh*
Con artist, technically, not thief. Granted, he was quite a Villain Protagonist at times, but he at least was bitten by karma with relative frequency.
I loved Top Cat when I was a kid. I need to watch more Boomerang.
He that makes himself a sheep will be eaten by a wolfHe was based on the old Phil Silvers comedy Sgt.Bilko, as a lot of the HB cartoons of that era were based on then-popular tv stars/shows (Flintstones=Honeymooners, Huckleberry Hound = Andy Griffith, etc). From what I understand, he was, and remains, very popular in Mexico, hence the film.
The most effectual Top Cat.[1]
I hear The Movie is pretty atrocious. Well, the trailer sure isn't promising.
TC doesn't seem to be very popular on this site, but he was my childhood hero. Anyone remember him?
