Though it's not too widely seen, lots of people hated Geneshaft, saying it was a badly written Evangelion ripoff with plot holes everywhere, but many also loved it, saying it was very well written, intelligent, and unique. Personally, I hold the latter opinion.

I believe Geneshaft was relatively interesting, particularly in terms of the unusual sci-fi setting and the gender politics involved, but it also felt like the story and characters needed twice as many episodes to fully come across. While I certainly didn't hate it, some scenes did occasionally feel boring or confusing along the way. Perhaps the basic concept would have worked better as a spin-off/side story to an existing series, if they weren't going to use more than 13 episodes, though I guess that would mean losing some of its uniqueness.

Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the most saccharine animes made. The plot is slow moving and harbored half the time by romantic sub plots, and a lot of the cast have Mary Sue qualities. At the same time however, it's part of it's charm, and I end up prefering it over it's toned down Cardcaptors dub.

The title character herself is the love child of a puppy and a kitten rolling around in a bag of sugar. But she has enough warmth and personality in her that she is rather endearing than just sickly, and it's hard to be disgusted by a character that makes you go "awwww" every two minutes.

The romance overwelms the plot and obviously it's "love triumphs in all forms" can be quite a controversy, but it's implemented in a manner that it kinda works. The main couple felt a bit rushed since Sakura had so little time to develop her own feelings for Syaoran, but everyone adored when it finally happened.
