The premise of 'Chronicle' expanded...

I liked Chronicle. I thought it did a good job at realistically depicting what might happen if three teenage boys acquired superpowers. But it got me thinking... what if the premise was taken further? What do you think would happen if, say, the Earth were to pass through the tail of a comet, and then, EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD ACQUIRED SUPERPOWERS? What would people use them for? Would the entire planet turn into a warzone with people separating into factions and trying to blow each other up, blowing the world up in the process? Or would we, after a few weeks of fun, settle back into a stable society and integrate the abilities into our daily lives (i.e... fly to work instead of driving cars)? Let's discuss and debate.

If all this were to happen at the same time, then chaos would ensue. After it subsides (which is very unlikely), what's left of humanity will try to connect with each other.

It would work, for a very little amount of time.

But then human nature will kick in, and the strongest will be determined not by the size of you body or mind, but how much can you lift with your gift. Which might not exactly be a bad thing, but humans can be very tied to their emotions and instincts. And if one doesn't like another, well, no evidence will be found if the disliked just happened to have a little fall . . .

It either all crumbles, or we unify. Either way, many people will die. Horribly.
