What do you get when you cross Tera with Monster Hunter? You get the action-RPG monster hunting MMO Raiderz.

Will be posting my E3 preview sometime soon.

After playing it I'd say it's not so much 'TERA meets Monster Hunter' as it is 'stripped-down Monster Hunter with 80% fewer loading screens'.

This is probably one of the first F 2 P MM Os I've played where the bosses can hold their own against hordes of equal leveled players zerging them and I daresay that it's easier if more time consuming to fight them solo since you can bait attacks more effectively.

Biggest problem now is the number of people who wanted this to be their dream game but found that it didn't meet their inflated expectations.

[Doubleposting to bump this thread after discovering that editing doesn't bump. I won't do it again, really! I'm just so sure that me and Shirow aren't the only ones in the CB.]

I thought that my planned Plate Berserker with Cleric heals was odd but it seems that BerserCleric is actually pretty popular, though nobody seems to like Warhammers which is a shame. Gonna put a point into hammer throwing next level so I have a ranged pull.

Managed to get in a party with a rocking Defender who made his investment in Ice Sorcery worth every single point. Too bad the server shut down before we could reach the Garden boss.

I like the fact that all attacks have inertia and momentum. It really forces you to time attacks and lead your target, especially in PVP. Hard interrupts make some world bosses a joke but I guess there really isn't any way to balance against 20-some folks chaining knockdowns and freezes without some arbitrary resistance mechanic but oh well. At least we still have overleveled characters getting KO'ed every now and then evil grin (obviously not speaking from experience, of course tongue).

From the trailer it looks pretty awesome, I like the idea of monster hunting with some comrades. So I guess I'll try the beta ASAP, when I can.

Just a question, is there anything more to the monster hunting?

The usual crafting, for one, if I recall.

Back in the game for open beta. For some reason I'm doing a lot better than back in CB. Seems that they scaled down some of the hitboxes on boss attacks because Fleetfoot wasn't able to kill me at any level this time.

There isn't as much to do in Raider Z as other MM Os. As far as diversity of activity types is concerned this game is probably the worst on the market right now but I find that it's good enough at what it does offer, which is monster hunting and crafting. This game probably has the strongest trash mobs out there apart from those in the starter/tutorial region.

The biggest thing I've noticed is that there's a lot more variety in weapon design compared to the closed beta and most of the gear does look pretty good apart from those that bare way too much (for both men and women). I can't tell what they've added to the cash shop either, which is also good.

I'm also in the Open Beta. Was in the Closed Beta during the Stress Test, after which I stuck around the Open Beta, which is pretty good so far. At first it had some problems properly detecting my Nvidia Optimus card, but after an update it seems to look a lot better than before (even with a few low res textures, though not as low res as before).

I'm interested in playing this game, since I want to try out MMO Hack n' Slash games (like Rusty Hearts). I've never played a Monster Hunter Game, so the closest comparison I can think of is Dragons Dogma. Also, it's free and it'll probably run better on my laptop than TERA would.

Be advised that combat may feel clunky if you're not used to attacks having significant numbers of windup and recovery frames (or can't figure out how to cancel). Timing and positioning are crucial especially since many of the bosses also have strangely shaped hitboxes on their attacks.

So this game just got a Steam release 2 days ago. Might result in a larger playerbase. I'm taking this opportunity to reinstall the game and get back to playing after months of inactivity. Anyone else still playing?

The steam reviews I am seeing are not kind to this game, The ones who are familiar with Monster Hunter scoff at it's mmo functionality (That is the kind of latency you REALLY dont need on a game with precise dodging) and the more traditional crowd find it horrifically grindy, and hate the travel times.

Anybody here who's played it here have anything to add?

I spent a good half hour trying to get playing. But no matter how many times I created accounts, reset my password or wrote in captcha it would NOT let me log in.

If the game really doesn't want me to play, fine. I give up.
