I also used to run Ubuntu off an 8GB thumbdrive for our laptop, when we haven't bought a new harddrive for it. LOL
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.
What's the avatar, if you don't mind. I've seen it before, I think.

Schild und Schwert der ParteiHaven't watched it myself. Just know enough to answer NGE questions in #trivia over at rizon.net. lol

Although on topic - I've tried Damn Small Linux and it actually works beautifully here, so thank you, Sixth. Managed to get it to do what I want, and it's so far doing it beautifully.

I've heard it is and my computer has been more and more insistent that I download it.
Oh really when?Unless you use a touchscreen, 8.1 doesn't really bring anything more to the table than what you get with 7, and interface-wise does worse. The supposed big change to 8.1, returning the traditional Start button, basically just added a level of obfuscation to the Metro interface.
Treating the software you use as apps, instead of full programs, is another sticking point, at least for me. If I wanted to use a tablet, I'd use my tablet, dammit.

I'm baaaaaaackI've already got 8 is the thing. Came with the computer.
I spend literally all my time in normal desktop mode though, anything gonna change there?
Oh really when?No start menu without a third party program.
And some programs will still force metro.
Going from 8 to 8.1 is probably a minor improvement, but that still strikes me as choosing to be stabbed in the hand with an ice pick instead of a rusty Bowie knife.

On an unrelated note, while waiting to finish downloading the 20GB patch for the Star Citizen client, I was painfully reminded that I have first hand experience with entire games fitting on just a few 1.44MB floppy disks.
(Adding insult onto injury, when I actually did finish patching and launched the client, it was running like molasses on the far side of Pluto... on a computer that I specifically built to be able to handle it. )
All your safe space are belong to TrumpI still have some floppies from when I was a kid with shareware versions of games, like Slay.
I know I have some floppy disks with programs on them.
But am now 100% unable to read the data on them in any way or form.
How do I configure a modern joystick/flight stick for DOS Box? Specifically for games like Wing Commander.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayDischarge static electricity by touching metal surfaces like the frame of the computer. Don't force things where they don't fit. Read the instructions.
Separate question: apparently the iCloud Bookmarks plugin requires that Chrome be running in Desktop mode. However, I don't have an option to do this, and I'm on Windows 7. Am I screwed?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"optimus, what stick do you have, and which game(s) specifically?
Prior to Privateer they didn't know how to do anything other than the traditional 2-button stick, and after that since the last of the series came out for the PC in 1998 there's not much functionality beyond Thrustmaster (hat, stick, throttle I think, and 4 buttons).
[edit] The "auto" setting in "dosbox_[game].conf" (base game directory) should handle it for you without problems. That's what's set up in my installs.
