The next two events we'll hear about the game are Gamescom (late August) and New York Comic-Con (early October).
Hm. I'm thinking about what they said about gear changing who you're playing as. I wonder what sort of things would trigger the change, and to what extent the changes will affect the game.
Using the example they gave, would Powergirl have different dialogue than Supergirl? Regime Superman and regular Superman had different clash dialogue, so it's possible.
Would you need an entire set of gear to change the character? Or could it be something as simple as just making Blue Beetle's armor red?
(I also really hope Batgirl comes back, partly because she was super fun to use in Injustice, and partly because there's a chance you could change her into a different batgirl with gear.)
From the cbr piece, it sounds like it's one piece of gear that does it.
To be fair, gear that can do such things are probably going to have their own slot.
A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.I don't think so. I think they'll do things like, to give a few completely hypothetical examples...
Black Bat's Cowl as an item for Batgirl, if equipped, it changes her to Cassandra Cain rather than Barbara Gordon.
Owlman's Crest, a chest piece that turns Batman into Owlman.
Stuff like that. Sort of like how Supergirl has a headgear that makes her heat vision purple.
There ought to be a way to change standard Bruce Batman into the Dirty Harry gun-wielding Flashpoint Thomas Batman.
And the Joker or Harley becomes the Flashpoint version of the Joker, AKA Martha.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.I'd say the only thing that keeps Flashpoint Batman from being a shoe-in is that he was already a skin in Injustice 1.
It was in Arkham Knight, too, so it seems to be a favourite of whoever it is at DC that decides what costumes the developers can use for skins. As it should be. It's an awesome design.
Actually, it's probably my favourite costume in Arkham Knight. The only one that could possibly beat it is Batman 3000, and the ears aren't pointed enough for me (as in, they aren't at all, because they're supposed to be tech on his cowl).
I always just used the Adam West costumes in those games (though I also used Batfleck in Knight). Watching the campiest version of Bruce slam a guy's head into a railing was incredible.
I'm hoping the Rebirth!Batman suit is at least in as a color variation.
I'd settle for Greg Capullo's New 52 suit instead of Jim Lee's. That's the one that got used in Injustice and Arkham Knight, and I don't think it translates to 3D very well.
Capullo is great. He's a master.◊
I've seen the Rebirth outfit. I was thinking that because it will have been in use for less than a year by the time the game is out, it may be too new, and I kind of want the New 52 suit that Batman wore in his actual book (rather than in Justice League) to make a video game appearance. :P

I'm really hoping he gets an Earth 2 Bruce Wayne costume.
I've actually had this idea for a Batman Elseworld set during the American Revolution, which included a Chehkovs Gun in the form that Batman's ears are actually black-painted daggers used as a last resort weapon.
In the Arkham series I generally use the Batman Inc. Batsuit, because it's a very simple design that hits a lot of the classic points. For the same reason, whenever I have the option to use the Neal Adams suit I always use that.
Alternate costumes in this game are unlikely to be of the same "simple, classic" design, though.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I can't stand the Batman, Inc. suit. The way the fabric wrinkles is off-putting to me.
Yeah, I like all the different custom bits in this. Building your own batsuit is better than choosing from one of fifteen.
Call me old Fashioned but Under Wear Of Power or bust.
And while I totally love Diana's new look (since it kinda looks at least a little like a something a greek warrior of either gender would wear, and an armour dress makes sense), I'm gonna miss the old Swimsuit costume.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm kind of bummed we'll only have Regime Diana and Clark to play as in this game.
I wasn't fond of bringing Good Diana/Clark into the story at all. It should be more interesting if we're focusing on the Regime universe since they're the ones who have changed so drastically.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I see both sides of this.
On the one hand, while the first game for this concept needed to end with Superman vs. Superman, that story has now been done and sticking in the Injustice universe is probably the most interesting plot choice for the sequel.
On the other hand, the story is not the only thing that matters, and it'll feel weird in regular gameplay for Clark and Diana to be evil.
As for Diana's costume, I like that they seem to have split the difference on her outfits between pants/leggings and skirt/leotard. When she first floated on screen my friend was diappointed they took away her pants until I reminded him that the outfits are customizable.
On that same hand, Mortal Kombat has close allies, even family members beat the living hell out of each before mutilating them in brutal, sadistic ways. There's usually funny reasons like Cassie wanting to beat up Jacqui for calling her dad hot. Liu Kang murdering Kung Lao? Complete Gameplay and Story Segregation.
Not that they'll go that far, but that would be a good aspect of the Gear System if they actually had the characters interaction/lines change.

I loved that joke about Beast Boy. Its nice to see there is demand outside myself Also only shonen heroes can wear orange and make it work.
