Short story publishing questions

First of all, I suppose I should say I'm new here. I used to frequent the website some time ago, but stopped after it got a bit too...weird for my taste. I heard it's cleaning up though so I came back.

In any case, I've been sending out short stories to a few magazines here and there which surprisingly ended with quite a few getting published. Recently I sent a story to Ellery Queen Mystery magazine, but it was rejected. It was a very nice rejection though, I actually got a personal rejection instead of a form letter.

Around a year ago, when I first started doing this, my acceptance rate was pretty low with only one short story per month. Since then I improved my acceptance rate, but I seem to have gotten stuck around selling four or five short stories per month regardless of how many stories I produce.

My questions are:

Should I be concerned about not being able to sell over five short stories per month? How many stories do you guys usually sell? Is this a normal thing?

If I can't sell over a certain amount of short stories per month, would you recommend me to step back and take some of the time I spend on that to write a novel?

Well, those are my extremely vague questions. Thank you in advance for your responses.
