If they have no memory of having been female, and no inclination to suspect themselves to have ever been female (for instance, not having a female-orientated self image and/or attached memories)... why would having been female in the past be relevant, beyond being a surprise for everybody else (and them when they find out)?
Unless finding out suddenly shifts the body back to female, leaving a male brain sitting there all confused, I don't see the conflict. Sorry.
If the brain is currently wired 'male' in a body built to 'male' specs: they're male. Even if they weren't before plot did a total rewrite.

Because they were still raised as a female. Which means certain male things they won't know. For instance, if it was an mtf, chances are, the first time they menstruated, they'd be very confused, even though they assume/"know" it should be a normal thing for them. They probably wouldn't know whether they needed a tampon or a sanitary pad, or how to properly dispose of the nasty stuff etc. Stuff like that.
Basic lack of experience in other terms.

Read my stories!I'm Ft M and I was raised in more of a traditional environment, so I guess I'll see what I can do to help.
First of all: has this character had hormone treatment and/or phalloplasty?
@MJ: The original post mentioned "magic", so presumably a perfect physical transition undetectable by self or others (right?)
A brighter future for a darker age.Correct. Before the event, they had identified as male (doing so officially circa college, which means they basically identified as such for...a year and a half?), but they never had the means to undergo any treatment.

Ok, so here is the quick premise:
Someone is male. And feels very male. All is well and good.
Except unbeknownst to them, they were actually raised female, being biologically female, and were magically turned male via plot, but have no previous memories of such a thing.
Now, obviously since they feel male, they're not going to think "oh gee, something feels up" but there is the fact that they still were "raised" as a female (and they still instinctually keep their traits, even if they don't remember the origins).
So my question is this, what exactly would an ftm who was raised in a mildly traditional setting, but no realization of this, come across as?
1. I know this is a general question, and "depends on the character" I am looking for general psychological/cultural advice (The person was raised in Italy, if it helps), as well as general suggestions.
2. Don't worry if the plot seems fishy. It makes sense in context.
