Is this voting thing(my friend posted it to me, dunno why :P) implying that PC is third console in console war instead of Wii? :P

'tis a silly poll. The Wii is a current-gen console. The PC exists outside of console generations and can't win or lose them.

Because the Wii is the clear winner of this generation and the poll is looking for who took second place. Take that back, who took third place, the DS was the clear winner of this generation with the Wii right behind it. The PC isn't even a console, a PC is built for doing work first, gaming second.

I don't know. While it's true that the PC is a work platform first and foremost, that isn't mutually exclusive with it being a console.

[up]Especially when a PC can also be any console up until the release of the PS 3/Xbox 360 generation, due to emulation.

But AAA games are sold for the X Box 360, the PS 3 and the PC, not the Wii.

Define triple A, cause I define it as "highest level of play" and the Xbox 360 and PS 3 only have a higher level of play than the Wii in online gaming(it is debatable on the DS, depending on if you think hacking is good or bad), in every other area they just have better graphics.

Besides, this isn't about AAA, its "who won" which neither the Xbox or Playstation did this time around, and really, PC can't even be compared because it is not a console. Though I guess it wins due to the fact if has Killer Apps like Facebook and Microsoft Word, along with the undeniable best sales and best sellers like Photoshop and Norton Antivirus.

I thought AAA just means tons of money was put into the project. Not really anything about quality.

How do you define "higher level of play"? Wouldn't that depend on the games themselves? What gives the Wii a "higher level of play" than the other systems?

Oh, see I was referring to the cricket/baseball term. I'd beg to differ about the Wii not having many good games. The expected Mario plat form games, Wario land, Donkey Kong Country, Kirby games and Metroids are mostly considered well made as are The Excite Racers, The Endless Oceans, Sports Resort, House Of The Dead, Conduit, Deadly Creatures, Battalion Wars while the Just Dance Series is one of the best selling every and there was a lot of noise made over that rainfall thing.

The Wii does have the most cheaply made, wasted opportunities in the form of its mountains of PS 2 ports I will agree with, but again, that has little to do with who won the market. The Gameboy and DS have always had that problem, its not surprising to see it hit Nintendo's home console.

Edit:[up] There isn't anything that makes a Wii game inherently superior, but there isn't much to suggest a lower level of play either, except for online play. The guns still detect hits the same way and it's easier to aim with the remote, the joysticks still push characters around at the same number of frames, everything sounds the same, the more expensive consoles will just look better on a wider tv screen. HD is a pretty useless gimmick, the remote's not perfect, but it does offer a possibility for new gameplay, giving people more incentive to buy Dance Dance Revolution or Call Of Duty for the third time, for example.

The Wii is dying off and they know that. Also, the Wii was allegedly first place.

That's not to say that all Wii games take good advantage of motion control or that all gamers want motion control. I'd rather play an excellent game with a normal controller than an alright game with motion controls.

The biggest thing the Wii had going for it was that was cheap and different compared to the 360 and PS3 way back when. They must not have done a very good job with the motion control in the first place if they needed to release the MotionPlus, and now that the consoles are more even in price, the low price of the Wii isn't a huge factor anymore.

But on the original topic, two words: They're idiots. cool

No, they did a good job. Motion Plus, however, gives more detailed data to the system, which is useful for Skyward Sword and its mirroring how you're holding the Wiimote to how Link holds the sword.

It was good for something extra. A new way to aim in Call Of Duty or Geometry Wars, a new thing to in Dance Dance Revolution or Star Wars Lightsaber Battles. Traps and stage effects never before possible in Mario Bros, a game no one had ever seen on a console like Fluidity. Just registering a motion was as good as hitting a button and aiming was better than using a stick.

It was bad for doing both at the same time. Aiming was good, swinging was good, aiming your swing, wasn't. Motions for something like batting or sparring would still be mostly predetermined, the closest to free flailing was Soul Caliber legends, which was somewhat unreliable and less versatile than the Twilight Princess and Resident Evil 4 even though they were ports(better than the endless PS 2 ports but still not built for Wii).

Motion plus let people do more, added more game play options(seen in Sports Resort or Red Steel 2 or Skyward Sword) on top of the game play options already added by motion detection. It wasn't put out because there wasn't anything workable before it. Gameboy's multi player didn't work because Nintendo later released a wireless adapter? Someone trying to be wireless before it might have failed, but the connecters still worked well enough to make plenty of successful multiplayer titles like Pokemon. Wireless just opened up options like random matches and not having to be in breathed on by the person you played with.

I don't care whether people who did that vote thing hate wii or something, thing is that its stupid to exclude it for flimsy reasons like disliking it if that is the case tongue

WHY THE HELL DOES EVERYONE FORGET MARIO GALAXY

And yeah, i wonder why they excluded it. Say what you want about it, but the Wii does have it's share of good games, and IS a next-gen console. Even if it didn't have as many good titles as PS 3 and 360, it should still be counted.

I've never even heard of playfire.com, so I don't really care whether their little scam-sweepstakes poll excludes the Wii.
