This game is comparable to the thread "The Rhyme Game", but what I'm trying here is something a little different.

Here's an example of what I mean:

  • International Phonetic Alphabet Pronunciation: /æt/
  • Spelling: -at
  • at, bat, blat, brat, cat, chat, dat, esbat, fat, flat, frat, gat, gnat, hat, mat, pat, phat, plat, prat, rat, sat, scat, shat, slat, spat, splat, sprat, stat, tat, that, twat, vat

First, you specify the last few letters of a word, and state the spelling and pronunciation you're aiming for. That's important, because English is pretty flexible with spelling and pronunciation, and you could go on and on listing words, when you could try to keep the group of rhyming words relatively small. Then you list as many words as you can think of that fit the criteria.

The trick here is to try to be as thorough as you can (although it is possible to miss a few). Also, don't hesitate to point out pronunciation differences. English has a lot of dialects, and each one has different pronunciations for a number of words. For example, "twat" is apparently pronounced /twæt/ in the UK, whereas Australia and New Zealand pronounce it as /twɒt/.

So how about it? Are you good at finding words that rhyme?

Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!
