... You'd think that a work with such an extensive trope page would attract more discussion... Especially one with such an interesting topic...
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Guess I might as well share my story with the show:
I watched quite a few episodes when I was a teenager and remember thinking "Yeah, some of this is funny but why did they bother exporting it? It just seems WAY too specific to British politics"
...now I look at that as yet another of my "I was an utter RETARD as a teen" moments. Even though it has one or other British specific concept, this is possibly THE best political satire ever written. The timelessness of some concepts are mindboggling. Hell, compare the current crisis in Europe with Humphrey's "divided Europe" speech where he stated each country's reasons for joining. If I had the money, I'd definitely get the complete box set.
I love this show. Although it is very British, a lot of the humour is also applicable to Australian politics due to our very similar parliamentary system.
"Under consideration" means we've lost the file, and "under active consideration" means we're trying to find it.
Damnit, now I have to dig out my old tapes.

There was going to be a Dutch version of this show a few years back, but I'm not sure what happened to that. They showed a few clips during the "De Wereld Draait Door" talk show, but they were just literal translations of jokes from the original, so I thought that didn't bode well for the originality of it.
Man, the world sure has changed since 2012.

Optimism is a duty.
We appear to be lacking in the threads dedicated to Yes Minister department. I cannot possibly express the sheer magnitude of my dismay at this state of affairs, and I have set out to remedy this disgrace with all the haste I could muster. I encourage all of the friends here who are interested in this series to help bring this thread up to the standards that such a brilliant work would require.
