As it is, F. Trunks loses everything and is forced to stay in the main timeline, then before any decent amount of plot can be made out of that they give him everything back in an awkward and abrupt solution that, itself, has issues and potential which the story does not dwell or elaborate on. If felt somewhat like spending a whole arc setting up a plot twist, and then when that point finally comes clearing it up as hastily as possible.
Yeah that's the thing - If you were just going to present Future Trunks with a perfect copy of his lost timeline, why even destroy his timeline? The only characters who could possibly care about the loss are gone, which means adding a second Zeno to the main timeline is the only thing you have to show for the Saga. Which isn't exactly the most meaningful of status quo changes.

You're right, F. Trunks definitely should live in present times.
Established rules make it...not a paradox.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Yeah there was an interview a bit back where they said something to the effect of "going against Toriyama's outline is like going against god. You just don't do it".
To show that Zeno isn't just someone Goku can just sweet talk into doing whatever he wants, Zeno is dangerous and unstable and he will blow up a universe at little provocation. Basically setting up the stakes of the Tournement of Power arc.
I liked the bleakness of the Future Trunks arc's ending, and I wouldn't change it for the world. Zeno's power had been talked about up until that point, but it had never actually been seen or felt, and we needed to see what Zeno could actually do in order to set up for the Universal Survival Saga. "Zeno will destroy all losing universes" doesn't have a lot of weight if there are people watching who doubt Zeno's ability to destroy universes (because that was a theory floating around for a while, that Zeno was another Monaka), and the build-up to the tournament with the threat of destruction hanging over the characters' heads is half the arc.
Granted, that moment sets up Zeno to be a smidge more heroic than he is in the later arc, due to having very good reasons for doing what he's doing.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The problem was that it basically shits on Future Trunks' life for no reason whatsoever. He has had enough of a rough life without that stress.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Yeah, but that's just Future Trunks' life in a nutshell.
We also already knew Zeno erased 6 universes beforehand. The only fans doubting him were frankly not the brightest bunch.
There were some people theorizing that he actually had no strength and only had like, a button somewhere that destroyed universes that he had because of his authority.
Wouldn't exactly call him heroic. I mean, yes Zamasu needed to be stopped...and that's it. There was no real need to nuke the entire universe. There was still hope they could have used the Super Dragonballs of Goku's timeline (since the earth balls were long gone, the Namekian balls were likely destroyed by Zamasu and Black, and we know they got rid of the Super Dragonballs somehow) to restore everyone who died.
They needed to get rid of Zamasu, not the universe. It was basically overkill. But I do agree it established that Zen-O is for real. Now we know when they say ''he'll destroy a universe with little provocation", that they meant it.

One Strip! One Strip!New movie. Apparently will be covering why Saiyans are so broken
'd
Announced at Jump Festa: We're getting a new animated DB movie (doesn't seem to be Super-related) in Dec 2018, written and designed by Toriyama, about the origin of the Saiyans.
I'm so glad for that tagline! I swear, if another fodder-looking Makyan or Metamoran takes away from the spotlight, I'm going to be peeved.

Well I guess apparently this is gonna be going into the exact origins of the Zenkai & transformations.
Either way color me intrigued.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I suppose we could get something interesting out of it.
Expect all the women to be housewives.
Authors Note: I used both potholes because I honestly expect to be right by accident.

One Strip! One Strip!Super Dragon Ball Heroes Universe Mission, coming this Spring:
Hmmm, Is the new movie going to be starring Yamoshi? (OG Super Saiyan/God Toriyama talked about a bit ago)
Let's see:
- brought Freeza back to life? check.
- Tien and the other humans back in? check.
- More Nameks? check.
- Female Super Saiyan? check.
- Goku vs Great Saiyaman? check.
- Gohan gets his groove back? check.
- Super Saiyan Kai-oh-ken-ooh? check.
- Future Trunks? check.
- Goku meets Arale again? check.
- Evil Goku? check.
- Vegeta beating Goku to a pulp? check.
- Vegito? check.
- Goku fighting
JirenSuperman? check. - Origin of the Saiyans? check.
Now this makes me wonder if this will be a lead-up to Super's next story - the first two films became story arcs, so why not this one? Why else would they do this now?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I don't think the movie itself be an arc but this would be a fantastic segue into a U6 Saiyan arc.
This song needs more love.Well at the very least this explains all the Saiyan lore we've been getting recently.
It was to hype up a movie.
Heh nice checklist.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.""The strongest warrior race in the universe, the Saiyans". Finally, a chance for Saiyans to get the limelight!"
I don't think I've ever been so rankled by a tagline before. So this is just going to be "Saiya-wank the Movie", is it?
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"At least we'll get to see some Super Saiyans with tails in canon.
It's such a minor thing, but Toriyama's sudden anti tail agenda meant that we haven't seen it much outside of movies and GT.
One Strip! One Strip!Don't forget "villain kills Goku's family and Goku goes berserk", that was a common one.
I'm hyped for the new movie. Can't wait to see Yamoshi's story animated, and I've been saying for a while that prequel movies would be a great direction to take this franchise. Hopefully, the next one is either animating the Jaco manga or showing Beerus and Champa's lives before becoming Hakaishin.

Hell even for stuff like Future Trunks' timeline's destruction I'd give half of the shade to Tohei cause I believe no one ever fights Toriyama on these insane ideas.
Now I'm curious about this, Toyotaro is a big-time DB fanboy same as us right? So how did he feel to the future being obliterated? Did he at least try to talk Toriyama out of it or accepted it without question cause its from Toriyama-sensei & thus he can do no wrong.
Oh yeah right I cannot defend that. Dude has his failings as a writer & thats the evidence right there.
