I made the mistake of going into an abandoned sector and that got me killed XD
Even when starving the enemies of oxigen and second level doors?
Enemies have a tendency to zero in on your O2 bay whenever you try that, and that's assuming they don't start in there. Zoltan do not have the health to try and repair an O2 system in a vacuum without suffereing casualties.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.^^ Yep. The Zoltan ships' Oxygen, Medical bays and door controls are right next to each other (and right next to he pilot) and are situated in relation to the two airlock areas (the whole ship layout is fairly linear, which makes draining awkward) such that flushing them of oxygen means necessarily draining vital corridors your crew needs to get to that area (even the pilot, who is only a couple rooms away).
Also the ship is basically two major areas - everything else that's important about the ship is way on the other side (the Zoltan ship has a weird shape that only becomes evident in situations like that), so most of your crew will be over there and will have to take a trek to respond to any danger. Basically, a boarding party will at least be able to take out one system before your crew (besides the pilot) can get there - hopefully not the medbay, but if not the medbay then the oxygen and/or doors which is just as bad.
This means that if a boarding event (as in, four or five boarders at once - not your average two man harassment team in a ship battle) occurs in that area in the first half of the game or so you're boned, since it easy for them to take your oxygen at least (and bust up a few doors) before you can drain the area enough to flush them out, and if they do that the whole front of your ship is liable to be incurably devoid of air. Add that to the fact that the Zoltan have less health than everyone else (which means you have to drain the air to get rid of people, and they die faster to air loss) and you're probably going to lose at least one crewmate, probably more.
If the enemy ports to any other area, you're good, but if they're in or next to that specific area you've got a serious problem on your hands. And the RNG help you if they spawn in the middle and split up.
If figure it's kind of like a necessary downside to getting the Zoltan Shield: you've got an advantage in ship-to-ship combat, especially in the early game, but a major disadvantage when dealing with boarders - at least until the mid-game when you get enough scrap/crew to deal with that sort of thing more effectively.
I've been editing this thing for a while and I never noticed I'd been 'd. Lol.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. But if you open both paths of doors to drain the oxygen and powering down the oxygen drains the romos really quickly. And because the oxygen and doors system only allows two people in, if you do it quickly the enemies will try to flee before getting to destryo the system (Or you can get level two oxygen so taking oxygen down completly is harder to do).
I speak from experience. Got a boarding event where the enemies made a beeline for the O2 system AND the door controls. I tried to use the vacuum to chase them away, because my crew could not take them in a head-to-head battle. Instead, they scrapped my systems THEN went to the medbay to die. Even though I still had my crew fully intact, and the medbay healed them faster than they lost health, there was no way for my three men to repair the broken O2 system between the three of them without losing two of them in the process. And the doors were still open.
I just gave up on that run completely. I'm still going for Rock run after Rock run to try and get into that crystal sector.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. You know what's amusing?
The making the Type-B engi ship almost immune to boarding by venting everywhere without someone actively in it. Drones don't need air, after all.
Hnn. My saves are gone, for some reason. If anyone could upload an Advanced Edition All-ship (Or just ones with the Lanius cruiser, really) save, it'll be greatly appreciated.
^ You got that too? That sucks...if you want, the Profile editor is working on Advanced Edition!

Give me cute or give me...something?Hey, the Rock C layout comes with it's own crystal crewman.
The secret sector is a blue option, not a quest, right? It should make it even easier now, just find that one door to gain access.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. The problem is finding a Rock Homeworlds. I've only ever found it on the second-to-last sector.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenThat is very helpful.
I... don't have the patience required to get most of those ships. Thanks.
^ Sure! It's also good for those whose save file was lost...like me.
Give me cute or give me...something?Groddemmit
I love this game, but I never seem to go beyond sector five. Maybe normal mode's just too insane for me...
The only guys who went beyond were the Lesbian Space Crew and the Guys Named Steve

"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018Try easy first is the best...I didn't play on Normal until I can reliably beat easy...especially if you play Advanced Edition, where normal is considerably harder than Vanilla normal...
Give me cute or give me...something?Would it still be helpful if I put up my save with everything unlocked, or does that profile editor cover it?

Only the sun has stopped.I hate, hate, hate Slug B. What were they thinking when they designed the thing? Its a boarding based ship that sucks at boarding.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comThey were thinking it'd be a neat gimmick.
A lot of B and C configurations are gimmicky, while most of the A configs are pretty straight forward.
Slug B's always been one of my most successful ships. I don't know why, since on paper it does look pretty bad.
Only the sun has stopped. It's so much easier now that there are two different medical bays.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenNow I remembered a reason:
The healing bomb allows you to press an assault without wasting time teleporting, healing, teleporting back, which at low levels when systems lack upgrades and you and the enemy ships both have small crews is probably a better advantage than the four-man teleporter.
Only the sun has stopped. Also, reconstructive teleport is an awesome augment for Clone Bay ships.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenGot to the boss ship for the first time ever yesterday (on easy, of course). I then proceeded to wipe against it three times with three different ships.
Those four shields are a BITCH. :(
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.Yeah, you need missiles or multi-shot weapons.
Man, if there's any downside to the Zoltan ship, it's that boarding events have a 50/50 chance of p-wiping you no matter how buffed your ship is until mid-late game.
