Somebody on the discussion page asked for a new image, and I have to agree: this picture doesn't demonstrate the circles or layers thing at all.

Here's some random stuff from Google Image Search: These are merely the first I found, and some probably won't work at wiki size, but it's a start:

[1]
[2] (from [3])
[4]
[5] (from [6])
[7] (from [8])
[9]
[10] (a Dungeons And Dragons book)
[11]

[up] Those two are the same?

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.

Very nice. Source is Dungeons And Dragons, I take it?

I like that picture, but can we get that in a larger size? I can just barely read the bigger labels.

The source is here. The subject is Dungeons And Dragons (specifically, Planescape) though I don't know that the image comes from one of their books. It may be fanart.

The base page seems to be http://planewalking.dungeons.ru/

There was another page that would have had similar art, but sadly it was on Geocities. The new incarnation (mimir.net) doesn't have the page I wanted.

Alright, we've got enough consensus between the two versions to put it on the page; I went with the larger version for legibility. Caption or no?

I also tweaked the description just a bit. Does the line about Heaven's layers need to be there? Is there a contrasting trope that that would fit?

[up]Well, Heaven has layers in Christianity, Islam, and Dungeons And Dragons... but I don't know of any other examples.

(And the Dungeons And Dragons examples aren't just "all outer planes have layers" because the Lawful Neutral Mechanus, Chaotic Neutral Limbo, and True Neutral Outlands don't.)

For a caption, how's about "Try not to look down."

"Basement Level 5: Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking"

Or whatever the appropriate floor number would be. Something along that line.

[up] Awesome for Image Links, but I don't think that would resize cleanly enough to use as a page pic.

[up][up] That one features an interesting Optical Illusion that makes it seem like the text is curved upwards.

... What? That's not relevant?

But yeah, text would be too hard to read. It's also not better than the other image.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.
