Definite improvement over the current, but if we can find something that gets the job done in one panel, that would be better.
Just the bottom panel should be fine. Caption could read "Who's a good little giant sea monster?" or something.
I kind of prefer just the top panel, myself.

Hearing no consensus on a caption, let's just lock up and move on.
Nothing there tells me that that... whatever the hell that is, is treated like Fluffy in-universe. Not even the caption does a good job making it clear, since I could put any monster/beast/eldritch abomination in that picture and it'd still be the same.
In regards to suggestions, how about panels 2 and 3 of this strip
