Inafune is a producer, that makes him a businessman .
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Mee Maggot's statement is confusing because no game maker can live solely on fun and passion. Hell, Final Fantasy has that famous story about the title specifically because the company wasn't making money at the time.
If you're a game company, you have to be about the money at least half the time. If you're not making money, all that passion doesn't matter because you can't afford to make games.
Edit: I think Inafune got waaaay in over his head without anyone to tell him no to things. Like, I can see where some of these things might have succeeded if he hadn't tried to advertise it all at fucking once. Dude doesn't seem to know how to pace himself.

Wait, I don't think you're getting my statement. I'm just saying how games nowadays are just made for the sake of money rather than passion. Why do you think we've seen so many usual spunkgargleweewees everywhere or why games with good content are rare to see, like per say Witcher 3.
Almost similar to Jim's former video titled: "Witcher 3 x Splatoon: How Games are Service".
And yes, I'm aware of the need of money. My problem is solely on games that don't deliver good content or service and only feed on money, usual cash-ins for instance.

This land is peaceful, its inhabitants kind.. ∩(·ω·)∩ WAIT, is this supposed to be the mistress herself?Bit overdramatic here.
There are few things I'm more ashamed of as a gamer than having given money to Gamestop.
As a console peasant they are a necessary evil for me.
I don't think it's as bad as it used to be. The games industry was pretty dire about 5 years ago but it seems like the onslaught of mindless linear military tactical murica shooters has died down.
Of course now it's just blatant asset flipping by grifters and open world games with no content, but I think that's a step up.
"I could eat a knob at night" - Karl PilkingtonDon't forget pointless crafting mechanics.
If anything we're basically in the middle of a resurgence of mechanically and/or narratively deep and dynamic big budget video games being the norm, or at the very least being a whole lot more common.
Within two years, MGSV, the Witcher 3, the continued success of the Souls-series, the resurgence of the computer WRPG with Pillars, Wasteland, and the like, the Doom reboot, that Hitman game that went episodic, Mankind Divided, Resident Evil 7 bringing back the resource management of the old ressies, and a bunch of other examples I'm missing.
Current age of games is a double-edged sword, imo. Shady business practices, large scale failures, and terrible work environments reach our ears easier than ever, but that opening of the floodgates also led to a diverse, and accessible market of games. It can always get better, and now it's far from perfect, but things are looking pretty good.

Or in the case of the latest Shantae game, with no difficulty!

Implying it was better when we were clueless about the shady business deals, large scale failures and abysmal working conditions?
Steam Greenlight vs. Steam Direct. Also, Konami gender bends Bomberman for fanservice.
Oh Konami a part of me thought you would be able to make it through the year with Survive being your only screw up.
In other news, Idiots still exist.
I agree with Jim, that Bomberman spinoff just doesn't seem that bad. I mean if it were like that Japan-only Bandai Namco crossover game where they basically just put a bunch of their female characters in soft-core hentai that's be one thing, but complaining about this is kinda like complaining that Samus looked like an anime girl in the endings to the 16-bit Metroid games.
That MGS porn parody though....after watching Jim's full review of it, I don't know what to say about that, other than 1) That joke about the sheep was actually pretty amusing and clever, as was the single strip of cardboard as a disguise, and 2) "Hussie"/"Hushie"? Yeah, I don't get it either. It's like they couldn't think of a good porn parody name for Quiet and it was almost lunch time or something and threw up their hands and said "fuck it!". Hell, I could think of a better name, I think we all could have.
Dunno what to say about the Steam thing, other than that I like the suggestion that you either pay a fee or undergo quality control. Man, Valve really did just cock the whole thing up, didn't they? They've gone from one of the most beloved video game companies to one of the bigger pariahs in recent years in record time, it's actually kinda surreal. At this rate if Half-Life 3 comes out it's gonna have microtransations and everybody's going to shit on it Duke Nukem Forever style.
Im surprised they didn't just call her "Tight". It's the most obvious thing they could've come up with.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. The Bomberman thing is just whatever. It's just the newest thing in an absurdly long trend of making random things into cute girls. There's at least two different sets of moe versions of the Sega consoles. Three (kind of, there's guys involved) if you count the absolutely horrible World War Blue. (Which actually crossed over at one point.) It's pretty much just Konami jumping on a trend loooooooong after it became a real thing.

Not Three Laws compliant.Well what did you expect? Valve to keep their cores intact until now? Look at what they did to CS:GO and Team Fortress 2 now, they turned one of their beloved flagship games into utter pigshit ever since the updates rolled. And thats not to mention that those updates were during the same time Greenlight was active.
At this point I can only trust From Soft and CD Projekt Red at this point. Its also shocking how such great company would turn into the shitebag they are, listing them alongside EA, Ubisoft and Konami as the worst of gaming, currently.
This land is peaceful, its inhabitants kind.. ∩(·ω·)∩ WAIT, is this supposed to be the mistress herself?I find it funny how people treat Valve turning out be awful like it's a recent development.
I guess It's amazing how much one can turn a blind eye too if you like their games.
Ubisoft aren't that bad.
Are you serious?
Aside from the misrepresentation surrounding Watch_Dogs, Uplay is fucking cancer. It manages to be worst than both Origin and GOG Galaxy as a client, and GOG Galaxy is in beta!
It's also a company that's repeatedly shat on the PC market. But 3 years ago they were still arguing that 30 FPS locks were acceptable.
It's a company that has outright said they will not produce games if they can't milk a franchise out of it. And then they will milk that franchise till the market becomes sick of it (look at Asscreed).
It's a company that has crammed terrible DRM in games that could damage people's computers. Or who would limit how many installs you had.
The time they embargoed Asscreed Unity's reviews till AFTER the game's launch

Yeah, just like I said about Activision, I'm not that bothered by Ubisoft as some other companies, but I fully admit that's because I'm not really a fan of any of their properties (well, I did play Blood Dragon and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, and I really enjoyed both of those), but I can't deny they do shitty things. Pushing DRM like they did alone makes them crappy.
The constant delays and failed promise to fans who gave the man and his company 4 million dollars is the sign of someone who was only in it for the money, big time.
