Yeah, Benz was the first in mass-production, but he too was preceded by Siegfried Marcus and Anyos Jedlik and the like.

Well, I'm talking about in the US. I don't know anything about foreign car culture. Hell, I barely know American car culture...

Hm. I do know that Bangkok can have eight-hour traffic jams, which can't be the most efficient way to get to Bangkok or the best imitation of American culture. (Also, I believe they haven't phased out leaded gasoline, which would make a bad scene that much worse.)

Huh. That's universal whether in left- or right-hand drives.

The More You Know.

I thought it was Swan (a Briton, no doubt) who invented ye olde light bulb.

Again, it's going to depend on how in depth you want to go with "invent". Do you want to include anything that would function the same as a lightbulb would (cause you can get the same effect with just wire and a heating element) or do you want a near vacuum glass wrapped around an electrical conductor?

I wasn't aware the Lumieres invented the car — wasn't that Karl Benz?

I was speaking metaphorically about their contributions to the film industry.

What's precedent ever done for us?
