NL rules make all pitchers more dominant. Facing another team's pitcher each time around in the lineup instead of an extra slugger with the DH does tend to improve the numbers slightly.

Anyhow, at least I've gotten my wish that this series will go six games. Maybe it will even go all seven. grin

I meant that he isn't a bad hitter, meaning his at-bats won't be free outs. So he could be an offensive asset too.

And win or lose they're coming back to KC. Which means my drive home from work on Tuesday will be a nightmare. Ah well.

COME ON ROYALS! Forget about last night and win this one!

Well then, I suppose you could say traffic is going to be a Royal pain.

*cough*

I'm so, so sorry for that. tongue

Cardinals rookie Oscar Taveras has died in a car accident. Such sad news for such a promising young player. As a Cards fan, my condolences go out to his family.

A real shame.

In other (mostly) unsurprising news, Bumgarner just tossed a 4-hit shutout. Final score of 5-0, and the Giants are now a single win away from true even-year magic.

Go Giants! Because Pacquiao threw the first pitch of one of their games! LOL

And there are a lot of Filipinos in the Bay Area anyway, so. lol My brother and his family (and some neighbors) being in a Baltimore suburb is in a minority.

I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.

Can we just skip straight to game seven? It's 7-0 Royals and we're not even through the second inning yet.

Trust me, it has already been jinxed hard.

That aside, it's now 8-0.

No home team has apparently lost a Game 7 in 35 years.

So it comes down to a 39-year old veteran pitching for the second time in his first World Series to turn the tide of history. So yeah, no pressure. tongue

The Giants' one consolation is that Hudson threw the only game that wasn't decided by 5+ runs. The downside is that the Royals' Guthrie also threw in that same game. One weird Series, this is.

Yeah, it's been one close game and five blowouts. Very weird series.

Gotta give props to Panik for that great play at second. Wow.

Edit: Also, first ever successful challenge in world series history

And now the Mad Bum himself is in to protect the Giants 3-2 lead.

I'm getting flashbacks to the 2001 Diamondbacks here.

And the even year magic is complete. For the 3rd time in five years, the Giants are the World Champions.

In before MVP Bumgarner. He basically carried the team with 2 excellent starts and five near-perfect innings of Game 7 relief.

Congratulations to the Royals, who fought hard to the final out. Hope to see you again next October.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Ah well, at least it stayed a close game, and had an exciting end where nothing was certain 'til the end. No shame in losing a series like that!

The Panda and the Mad Bum also just set postseason records. Sandoval with 26 hits this postseason (most ever in a single postseason), and Bumgarner with most innings pitched ever in a postseason (previously held by Curt Schilling).

Very impressive run for the Royals considering how long it's been since they've played at this level. Hopefully they can stay competitive (though I confess I'd like to see the Twins make a resurgence as well).

Well then, I suppose there is well and truly no more baseball until March...

Congratulations to the New York Jets of Missouri for winning the World Cup Championship Series of International Baseball of Two Countries! Go go Golden State! Congratulations to your quarterback and goalkeeper as well, and also to All-Star shooting guard Stephen Curry!

Did this thread suddenly get moved to Yack Fest when I wasn't looking?

<checks>

Nope, still in OTC. So, if you don't have anything to actually add to the discussion...
