It's a just for fun page as is the image.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickNo problems with it...the only thing I could think of that would be better is Neo looking at the spoon in The Matrix.
It doesn't show the point of the page though. This is more defying Giver of Lame Names for tropes than about the actual utensil.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Just going to point out: This isn't really a trope. It's more of a Just for Fun page than anything else.
Reaction Image RepositoryWhat a whiny page.
New theme music also a boxIt's a just for fun page so who cares what the image is?
That doesn't mean "any picture goes".
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.+1 for "any picture goes"
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Actually, it sort of does mean any picture goes.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI thought "fun" was not the same as "random", since even fun pages are about particular topics.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Yes, and this one is about spoon. The image shows a spoon. All is good.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickNo, it's about names. "spoon" just happens to be the acronym.
If a picture involved a spoon, and the effort to avoid bad names, that would be a fitting picture.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It is a visual pun. Not random.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Still a pun on the redirect, not the trope.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Puns on tropes are usually on their title.
Oh wait, do you mean a picture of a spoon is a visual pun on the acronym (and redirect) SPOON, but not on Society To Prevent Overly Original Names? And because of that it is random? Seriously?

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Yes. It has nothing to do with the point of the page. How hard is that to understand why it would at least look random to somebody? It is to me, because I find that pictures are to illustrate pages, not titles.
It's just a guy holding a spoon, and it's not even that big in the picture.
On the other hand, something like a banner with the society's name, that also had a large spoon in it, would make a great picture. I would make something like that, but I'm not so good at making banners on pictures.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I think there should be a bigger picture of a spoon.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.Which is why I suggested the Neo pic; otherwise I've no objections to the current.
@DQZ: It isn't a trope page, and as a result it has way less stringent guidelines for images. It's not the best image, but there's nothing wrong with it either. Although I'd be all for switching to the Neo image.
Reaction Image RepositoryArguing about a JFF page image? ... Why.
I say we contact a few of the people on the member list and ask them if they want to change to the Neo pic or not; if they're good with the current, we lock and move on. Yea/nay?
I'd like to see if I can find a way to do a custom pic, like I mentioned in post #18. Just give me a little bit.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. This is a rough draft of what I had in mind. If someone can do something better (especially with the banner), please do so and post it here.

A trope about going for clarity in names (but still witty) has a picture that is anything but. Pictures are to illustrate the trope, not just show the trope name (and a redirect one at that). It doesn't even work as a Visual Pun.
