"Barry... why?"

I miss that line.

The Red Queen hologram stuff was about throwing 3D moviegoers a bone.

[up][up]About the Las Plagas, if I had to make an assumption: Maybe the zombies were just test subjects that lead to the perfect "mutation", which is what Rain used.

[up] That could be.

So guys, how would you rank the movies from favorite to least favorite?

For me it's RE 1 > RE 4 >= RE 5 > RE 2 > RE 3

I have very high hopes for 6. It might even end up being my favorite.

[up]

  • 5, more of the same as 4, but less Wesker, but more Michelle Rodriguez and the guy that plays Barry (not even a fan of Barry in the games, but I liked the guy in the movie).
  • 4, because they've finally started embracing the absurdity, the cinematography is actually pretty inspired at times and the action choreography is great. Plus the guy that plays Wesker.
  • 2, I thought it was about as good as the first, but I rank it higher because...
  • 1, it's a good serviceable horror/action movie, but I think it kinda has that Matrix-ripoff feel that some movies had back in the very early '00s.
  • 3, because I can never really be bothered with it.

Extinction had a lot of problems but as I've reflected on why I like Afterlife so much, I think I realized what killed RE 3 but helped RE 4 and 5.

Going from the end of Apocalypse to the start of Extinction is the biggest "wut" moment ever. Changing the story from a contained, local outbreak to a global apocalypse off-screen is just too fucking big a pill to swallow. You can practically hear Anderson reaching into the depths of his colon to yank that out.

Afterlife and Retribution however have the benefit of that bit of nonsense already being established. It's like "well, world is doomed, now what?" What was once total nonsense is now just a mundane fact and you can focus on other things.

Also of interest is that Anderson didn't direct Apocalypse and Extinction. I think he wrote and produced both of them but he only directed, RE 1, 4 and 5, which are my favorite movies. I wonder if that is a coincidence.

[up]I think Anderson is a pretty good action director and those movies do have the best action scenes, so if that happens to be your favorite part of those movies than it would make sense.

That would make sense. Most of the fight scenes in Apoc and Extinction suffered from being way too fucking dark. I usually have trouble seeing these things anyway because of my eyesight but even other people have commented on how the final fights between Alice/Nemesis and Alice/Isaacs were too dark.

And even though I've just insulted Apocalypse, I'm still gonna re-watch it. I was looking up RE movie music on You Tube and found this

I loved that scene. It makes me want to give the whole movie another shot now I have a more positive outlook on the series.

Okay, here's a topic I think we can all get on board for.

Best Milla look?

Forget feelings about the character of Alice. Just indulge your superficial side.

RE1 Due to being the original, probably the most iconic. She wore a jacket for a lot of the movie though. Still, quite stylish and sexy.

RE Apocalypse Commando Alice and not reall my thing. Looks cool but a bit too generic for my taste.

RE Extinction Perhaps my bias is showing with my giving two links? Oh well. I may not like RE 3 much but I think the worn, traveling the Earth look worked really well.

RE Afterlife Does it make me look like too much of a simpleton if I think the addition of wearing her weapons on her back makes her look a lot cooler? Other than that I don't have much to say about her outfit. Kinda eh.

And I can't find any good pics of Retribution Alice...

I liked her hair most in the first and third film.

I like her Afterlife outfit (she also had a longcoat for a little bit at the start, I think).

Second place for me would be her outfit from the first movie.

Not too much a fan of 'Umbrella Corset' from 5.

One thing I liked about Afterlife was it's 'money shots'[lol]

What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.
