Drill hair lady and blond dude must be playable, given the combat screenshots. HYPE.
I find it interesting that the game is apparently set on the year that Gravitic Warp was invented according to 3's dictionary.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThey've said that this game will be more like 3 than 4 so it makes sense that they would try to connect them.
Was the plot twist the only thing people didn't like about Star Ocean 3? Because that's the only thing I can remember a lot of people complaining about it compared to Star Ocean 4.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2I find the idea that 3 is the best in the series kind of weird since the only game I haven't seen people endlessly bitch about is the second one
I'm replaying 3 right now, but I also started the series with that one, so...
The 3rd game will always kinda have a place in my gaming favorites, since it also brought me onto the series.
Dengeki scans of 5. Better quality will show up later.

And there's my current biggest thing to look forward to at E3.

Beauty.
Winter cannot come fast enough.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerReally regretting missing that Squeenix stream.
So in the private presentation, Nakamura said they had to fight to get the witch girl in. They first had to get approval from the higher-ups because her design may be pushing the rating. They didn't want to change her because they thought Akiman's take on her was really unique and eye-catching.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThat's a good sign, being even more risque than SO 4 is a truly remarkable feat. I approve.
She is also apparently the most popular character with fans, since they keep getting mail and fanart about her...even though she's only gotten a few shots and no official reveal.
I approve.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerYes, he gets it. What people want in their Sci-FI JRPG is to be stranded on Generic Fantasy Planets. What people want in a series called Star Ocean is to see as little of outer space as possible. What they want is an entire disk of meaningless garbage that adds nothing to the story and does not in any way foreshadow the TWEEST.
You know, it's one thing to go out of your way to bitch about SO 4, I can handle that, but to go out of your way to bitch about it while praising 3 is depressing as hell. If this guy truly wants SO 5 to be more like 3 I can't wait to be stuck on some shitty planet that has no bearing on the game's main plot and makes me hate my life.
Star Ocean 1 got around it by having the initial protagonists coming from the primitive planet, and the main plot is about saving the people of the planet. I've never played Star Ocean 2, so I can't comment, but yeah, with 3, you could chop out the vast majority of the main primitive planet and you wouldn't lose anything.
Not Three Laws compliant.
To be fair, SO 2, imo, the best game in the series, had that exact formula. Unless you want to argue much of anything before the Ell Continent/ Sorcery Globe or Rena's necklace foreshadowed any of the second half of the game.
all Disc 1 of Star ocean 2 did was allow us to recruit a bunch oif generic fantasy teammates and a couple of other star travellers or genuis engineers before being whisked off to a highly technological world

@lu127 That's cool. I just hope when the game gets localized that her costume doesn't get censored. Aw who am I kidding.
Kotaku: New Star Ocean game contains half dressed character more @ 7.
Some details on story, setting and characters.
