Apologies for double post, but I just got Titta, took her outside to do some training, and killed one Shining Pom which yielded enough experience for her to gain EIGHT levels all at once. The game froze twice as it ran the experience down.

Shining Poms at the start of a chapter can do that to ya.
I'll need to look up a guide, the buggers are hard to find, and levels start capping the exp quickly in this game.
Honestly aside from getting the achievement of killing one each chapter they are not really necessary.
The only time I ever tried to farm them was for the rematch with you know who.
here is a guide to their locations each chapter They just have a chance to show up with a certain monster encounter during the chapter.

Sweet, we'll be getting the game in a month's time, yesssssh.
I hope my laptop can run it, it doesn't sound too demanding, but I barely have enough to run anything stronger than a PSX emulator for comparison.
Whats your specs? It looks like they will have a 'vita settings' and a 'ps4 settings' modes.
I meant PS 3 lol sorry.
No word on a price is there?
Nothing.
I'm guessing something in the ballpark of $30. A slight discount for PC players, but not so big a discount to aggravate Vita or PS 3 players who bought it back in December 2015, or Cold Steel 2 in September last year.
My point being that these are pretty recent, so we should not expect an exceedingly low price tag.
HP 255 G4 Notebook, and an AMD A8-7410 APU processor, AMD Radeon R5 graphics, 2200 Mhz, 4 Cores. 16 GB of Ram.
Seems fine to run a little bit better than the minimum settings for 30 fps.

Hey guys,
I am currently starting Trails of Cold Steel and I need some tips on how to play the game. Can anyone give some advice on how to play the game fairly decently?
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."What are you having problems with? Quests? Combat?
If it's quests I would rec a point to point walkthrough like this one.
Combat wise, scan everything at least once, and abuse links and elemental weaknesses as much as you can.
If you are coming off Sky, where you place Quartz no longer matters. Focus on creating and equipping Quartz that give stats and skills. Master Quartz are really important and powerful too, pay attention to what is equipped to who. Rean's for example gives CP per hit and other gear does the same so you can make him an Ao E god.
As far as relationships go, unless you are trying to complete the notebook just spend time with who you like. Getting 500 slink points via battling while linked and/or spending time is the big goal to get a big event with them at the end of the game.

So, I saw Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2 at a Gamestop yesterday. Both looks interesting. Can someone tell me how long both games are and the type of combat they use?
Umm the main story is about 60 hours or so in each, doing everything about 80 hours.
Combat is turn based, not too complex but can be kinda difficult at times. Best description would be a more strategic version of Neptunia'a main series's combat but not quite a full on SRPG like Disgaea.
They need to be played in order as 2 picks up immediately after the first one, with a save load that tracks all your choices.
They are VERY good, aside from Persona 5 they are the best JRP Gs in years and the cast really grows on you over the course of the games.

@Memers
I have problems with combat as well as the controls. I just started playing and I need t know what to look out for.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."What Memers said. If you're gonna pick them up, grab both, because the first one's ending will make you want to play the second one right away if you like the game.
Gonna need to be more specific there. What about the combat and controls elude you?
I am trying to figure how to scan the enemy weakness as well as utilize how the spell system works in the game. I also want to how positions influence the combat of the game.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."I forgot how scanning works since it's been months, but as for the rest...
For the spell system, you learn arts by leveling up your Master Quartz (just fight and it'll do so), and by use of the Orbment menu. Your arts will take a while to actually be launched after you start them up, unless the effect for the turn specifies otherwise (there's one that lets you launch any art immediately for free). Most arts aren't too noteworthy in the Cold Steel games, unlike earlier entries where they were your bread and butter. Crafts are far more important here.
As for positioning, many arts and crafts hit a circle, a straight line, or some other sort of area of effect. You want to position your characters so you can hit all the enemies you want to hit using your crafts (i.e. with all the enemies in a straight line from your position if using one of the line-range crafts). But you also want to make sure you don't leave your characters in range for multiple to be hit by the enemy's attacks. That said, there are also support moves that are rather inefficient unless your characters are close enough to each other, so you can't put them too far apart either. Clear as mud?

Aren't spells "Arts"? You might mean Crafts, unless CS changed the terminology.
Scanning you want to use a 'Battle scope' item or the 'Detector' craft on the two mages. The detector craft also makes enemies weaker to your attacks and crafts that do damage to unbalance them enabling follow up attacks, but it takes 20 CP so Battle Scopes might be better at times. Always keep like 10 battle scopes at all times and scan every single thing, even story fights, for an achieve.
You always want to be linked to someone (use L1) no matter what, there is no downside to it and as they become better relationship wise via link and spending time they will gain better and better unbalance skills.

Can you tell I haven't played in a while?
As an additional note, be sure to be on the lookout for the Lost Arts or whatever they were called in Cold Steel 2. They're absurd.

Heh, I did that one last week. Getting through the tower was a pain in the ass because the enemies were at level, and kept killing her.
