I'm writing a fantasy novel set in a place based on Tang Dynasty China, and I've used Mandarin for most of the names of my characters. (Yes, technically they didn't speak Mandarin in Tang Dynasty China, but nobody knows for sure how Middle Chinese was pronounced and I'm not nearly enough of a linguist to work out all the voiceless nasal fricatives and whatnot.) I need a Mandarin speaker, preferably native, to tell me if my character names are any good or not.

Not just for stuff like "that word sounds like the phrase your grandmother eats parrots" or "that is also the name of a notoriously evil person", but also for appropriateness of names to characters. An English-speaker can instinctively tell that you probably wouldn't normally call a working-class construction worker 'Thelonious Thwippenthwaite' or an Evil Overlord 'Dave'; I need someone with enough familiarity with Mandarin to point out something similar with my characters. (I do speak a little bit of Mandarin, but I've only been learning it a little while and being an Anglo-white Australian guy, I don't have the cultural background to spot these things.)
