I got this idea, that i'm currently writing the first draft about

It all starts in high school, where everyone is forced to take a test. Surprisingly, the dumbest student is the one who gets the highest, and is given an award. The test was to find out who will be given the task of being an ambassador. Not just any ambassador, one that is supposed to make peace between different people and dimensions. And he has to do it, or else they will execute him in the most brutal way possible.

Obvious plotholes:

Why would you send the dumbest to make peace with other dimensions? You would think that intelligence would help.

Why are minors doing this in the first place?

I EXPECTED THAT

1. The test wasn't really a "test" per se. More like a "who would be less likely to break down" thing. And, yeah, it would be explained later on."

2. Actually, the main character would mention this. Genre Savvy indeed

And, yeah, it would be explained later on.

This poses the question: why are you setting up such a hopelessly complicated premise if you're going to have to bring the story to a screeching halt later on to explain it? Once you answer that question, then it'll either help you justify, simplify, or simply dispose of the premise.

It's beautiful and so full of deep imagery that it doesn't surprise me to find that it has gone WAY over your head

Why would people perform a mental health and strength test under false pretenses? It would be much simpler if people got evaluated by psychologists, or put in a similar environment. And I'm seconding "why are you putting a minor in charge of peacekeeping relations with a completely different dimension, rather than an ambassador of reasonable age with experience in keeping relationships between countries civil?"

The only reasonable explanation is that it takes so long to get to these alternate dimensions that by the time a seasoned diplomat — or even a young one — got there, they would be dead.

It's a very common psych technique, actually. If people don't know their testing for X, then the results for X aren't going to be swayed by what people think is the right answer for X.
