Have you tried your local library? Or its online database? There are usually lots of resources there in terms of government statistics and laws.
Well it's possible what you are looking for may not exist in a lot of countries. This is such a new science that a lot of the laws haven't caught up in every country. For instance, it's still legal in Russia to make a half-human hybrid creature with genetic engineering, whereas in Canada and the USA it's illegal.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)You should contact the Mc Gill Centre for Medicine, Ethics and Law. With a bit of googling I found these links:
http://www.engineeringsummit.ca/files/Somerville_Margaret%20-%20Presentation.pdf http://www.slideworld.org/viewslides.aspx/McGill-Centre-for-Medicine-Ethics-and-Law-ppt-2295125
They are power point presentations that look at the underlying issues. Somebody associated with that centre or the centre for comparative law at the same school would be the ones to ask.
The Director is Margaret Sommerville and she is quite approachable if you don't waste too much of her time.
The email is cmel@falaw.lan.mcgill.ca
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are probably right.
Hello tropers, I'm currently working on a researched argument on the subject of bioethics, focusing on the regulation of human genetic engineering. However, I've hit a big stumbling block in my research; no matter where I look, I can't seem to find any current statistics on the laws and policies on genetic engineering in all of the world's various nations. All I've been able to find is a report by the Canadian government from 2006 detailing the policies of 16 first world countries, the US. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.
