so my current watch is failing me. There's a few features I need, and a few that i absolutely abhor, which have factored into the decision for my next watch. unfortunately it seems like the combination of those features is really rare.

what I want:

  • Dual display (analog + digital). analog is very easy for reading the time at a quick glance.
  • digital chronograph + lap memory. the main reason i need a dual display.
  • 100m (10ATM) water resistance, minimum.
  • metal face + strap. no rubber. no leather. i've never seen a watch with a rubber strap that lasted more than 2 years. and I don't particularly like the look of leather.
  • a proper glow light. not glow-in-the-dark paint that ends up glowing for only 2 hours after sunset.
  • a crown. for adjusting the analog part. Many ana-digi watches make you hold some button down for ages while the analog hands slowly wind their way around. Took me a good 10 minutes to set the time the first time i bought my watch. didn't even bother when i went on vacation. never again.
  • not ugly. i.e. something i can wear to a formal dress party.

The only watch so far that meets all these requirements is the Citizen Promaster SST. which is a $500 watch. Granted, it is well above and beyond what I'm looking for (including solar power) but my current watch was under $100. Anyone know of anything else?

I don't particularly like the look of leather.

A shame. Real leather is a beautiful thing and is something that just cannot be imitated.

Sorry I can't actually contribute anything to this topic.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.

Well, we now know who isn't PETA's person of the year.

And better than thy stroke; why swellest thou then?
