I have a character in my novel thing who finds out that his family lied about who he was, that he was one of them. Not only that but he harmed his true relatives under their orders. He has a minor breakdown and runs away.

I am thinking of having him call himself, not either one of his identities, but some name or word that means or suggests a lack of identity. Does that make sense? He doesn't want to identify as his fake identity because it is a lie, but he doesn't feel like he can be a part of his birth family.

If you want the classic route, he can always go with "Nemo", but that might not be a good idea.

And for the record, we have a thread for this sort of thing already.
