Okay, I've been working on a Sci-fi short story for a local literary review. The story centers around a guy in his early twenties who's just dropped out of collage due to a political argument with the dean. A bright young man, he's spent the last several years constructing a small, one man jet plane using various unusual features (forward swept wings, lifting body design, ect.) When he learns that the next Woodstock is about to happen, featuring acts from across the colonized galaxy, he decides to buy the best seat he can and fly there in his home-built jet. The point where the story really starts to develop is when he's flying along and comes across a privet space-plane belonging to his personal favorite music group. Tagging along behind them at a safe distance, as any fan would, he sees the plane come under attack by a pair of air-superiority fighters. Realizing that the jets are ignoring him, he sacrifices his plane by crashing it into the wing of one of the fighters. He survives and the story goes on. The problem I have is this, Why would jets be launched to shoot down a music act? The end moral of the work is that you have to balance the physical and the emotional, sometimes trading hard work and tangible objects for peace of mind and soul. Machines can induce feelings of joy and freedom, not just of an endless grind. People can be little more than drones, hardly vibrant or creative. Something that helped this Aesop would be appreciated.

Need to know about strange weapons, especially weird guns? I know em, and if i don't I'll find them.

Do these jets have to come from some sort of military force, or can they be owned and piloted by private citizens? There didn't appear to be any real reason for Mark David Chapman to shoot Lennon, other than he was just plain delusional. The stress of work got to them and they snapped, maybe?

it can be private, just seems a little odd. Then again look at what PMC's can get there hands on.

I'm going with military plains hijacked by remote control, thanks anyways.
