I used to have a high-powered PC, but it's completely trashed now. So now I'm left with a

[[Sony Vgn-Cr590 notebook http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=VGNCR590&LOC=3&session_id=6dc08cc8cf7e3162d94fef18ae0b3caf#/howtoTab]].

And according to Can You Run It? it can't play any of the games I want because does to not supporting hardware T&L. I was going ahead and try

but I'm not sure if it'll work. Will it? If not (?), is there anything I can do besides buying a new computer? : - (

(Damn, I messed up the links...)

You might want to put some spacing between the links, maybe a line or two between them. Because right now your post is nigh-unreadable.

EDIT: I don't think you really need to buy a new laptop. Sony computers in general are pretty powerful stuff, so all you need to do is just find out what exactly is causing the incompatibility issue with the new graphics card you purchased. And I know what your thinking: "ok, but HOW exactly can I do that?!" Sadly I can't give you a decent answer without seeing the comp for myself. If you don't have too much stuff that you want to save on your comp you might want to consider just rebooting the whole thing and reinstalling the drivers from scratch, it might get rid of whatever program was causing the incompatibilty issue.

I use a Samsung Q430. Can You Run It? tells me I can't run Mass Effect 2, Deus Ex:HR, Portal 2 and all those other modern games because I don't have hardware T&L, yet I can run them just fine.

I think hardware T&L is only required if you want max settings. Try installing one of the games and see if it works fine.

Sadly I have much on my computer which is not easily replaceable. I really should back up my data...sad

I've tried installing Fallout 3 (which is a bundle of funwink), but it doesn't work. I suppose I could try a few others.

Anyway, is this external graphics card worth my money? i suppose there might be a free solution, but I know nothing about computers...

I strongly suggest requesting your service center to handle any upgrades even if it costs more. Getting it done by yourself or through a third party will void your warranty if anything goes wrong.

Maybe your should check the official forums and the most popular fan forums. The community may be poisonous but a game as popular as FO 3 is bound to have a lot of people making workarounds for problems like yours. The same goes for any game you have a problem with.
