Pretty sure that the policy is that if it's the caption and the trope title that make the image an example, it's worse than no image.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyPersonally I think that's a silly generalization and that it should be decided case-by-case, but I can see why that would be true in the majority of cases anyway, so I can't blame this policy to exist. It goes without saying that this one pic would make a nice exception; perhaps we should distinguish between plain "bad" and just "weak" images... But that would be opening a bigger can of worms, I guess.
"We are not a stuffy encyclopedic wiki. We're a buttload more informal".That's a textbook example of a terrible image.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI can deduce it right away from the title itself, without the need of reading the article first. You see the title, look at the picture, read the caption, bam. That makes it weak, not terrible. A tea set◊ would be a terrible pic.

"We are not a stuffy encyclopedic wiki. We're a buttload more informal".A tea set would have nothing to do with the trope. So yes, it's possible to have an image that's even worse than the current one.
This picture has nothing visibly to do with the trope. All things that connect the image to the trope are outside the image. You could remove the image from the page without loss of anything connecting it to the trope, if you left the caption. That's a bad image.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI'm still not sold on the current picture either. This trope is about a conflict caused by some miniscule thing. The conflict is not shown in the picture. The reason technically is in the picture, but you don't know that if not for the caption. Yes, they're wearing different ribbons, but there's absolutely zero indication that there's any kind of conflict being caused by them. There is nothing in the current picture that indicates the trope is taking place. If they were making threatening gestures, or if they were even facing each other might make the image work, but as is, I don't think it does.
"We could have a worse picture" =/= "The current pic is good".
If we use that criteria, we could put up this picture◊ with the caption "Black hair!" "White hair!" or "No tie!" "Ties!" and it would basically be the same as the current pic. The only difference is that the current pic is aliens, which doesn't have anything to do with the trope. At all.

Reaction Image Repositoryplenum, I have to wonder why you're so determined to defend this picture. Again, if you want it to be from this particular example, I'm sure we can find a screencap from the episode that shows actual fighting, or anything else that indicates this isn't a meeting of the Alien Fancy Scarves Club.
Not really liking the current picture. Heck, had I not seen B5, I'd be at a total loss as to what is going on.
I have never watched Babylon Five and I have no plan to, but I get the point just fine.
Not saying it's an ideal image by any means, but my opinion is it does add something to the page. When I skim the page and take a glance to the right, I chuckle and it confirms the assumption I made when I read the title. In short, it's not worse than no image. Because it's funny and it conveys some of the aspects of the trope while not misleading.
Just saying that we need to actually find a replacement before pulling. If we do, I'm all for pulling it.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.Well the only other idea I have is a comic based on star trek's episode: Let That Be Your Last Battlefield with the half black and half white guys duking it out.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Ah, yeah, for a start, I'm agreeing with nrjxll's direction that we should find the screencap showing the conflict that arose from the current image.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.[33]It's not that i'm defending this picture, I've never sawn B5 myself. I'm being adamant pretty much for the reasons Catalogue said above (and he said it better than I could, apparently). I'm under the impression that people around here have too much of a "black or white" kind of attitude, and downright refuse to acknowledge shades of gray, the result being way too many pull-happy threads, even of images that are not "great", but not downright "bad" either.
As for [32], yeah, that could technically count in fact. If nothing the aliens one looks a tad more grim and is an actual example, so it's slightly better, but I can see the guys with the tie and that caption working almost as fine.
Lastly, [31], that's not entirely true. Leaving only the caption would convey nothing, it's just random shouting of two colors. Without the picture I could not possibly get the caption in the first place.
Oh, and I also agree with . Does anyone know from which episode that screenshot comes from?

"Its Season 2 Episode 3."
"Your kindness gives me the presentiment I can be reborn. Now, I want to believe at least in you." - Kaori YaeI believe the standing policy is that the caption cannot carry the picture, it can only improve the picture by being funny or witty. Just putting that out there...
Things of mine keep getting deleted. I curse too much.I have to say, it is not easy to find B5 screencaps online, especially since the livejournal page I was getting mine from has apparently ceased to exist.
Whatcha looking for? I got the DV Ds
So do I, although I don't have any way to take screencaps and my season 2 DVD is with my parents right now anyway.
I'm not actually convinced that anything from this episode would be perfect, mind you, but at the very least something that actually shows the Drazi fighting would be an improvement over what we have now.
Looked it over. Only one fight scene, and the camera mostly focuses on Ivanova during it. When it doesn't it's impossible to get a good shot of Drazi fighting with both of their neckerchief visible.
So, should we just drop the B5 idea entirely? Never having seen the show, I'll leave it up to your judgement.
Things of mine keep getting deleted. I curse too much.Well, here's my suggestion. I can't figure how to resize it so it's still legible [1]◊
Eh... maybe.
It looks like the B5 example is toast, though.
Too small to read.

Things of mine keep getting deleted. I curse too much.Did you enlarge the picture?
Either way, the current picture is JAFAC as far as I know. I know nothing about the series though.
Here's the song argument pic at 350 px...I'm gonna play around with it and see if I can preserve the original size so the captions are more legible.
EDIT: Nevermind, it's gonna be way too big if I keep the original heights.

Yes, you do. This image on its own would not work. That's why it's just "better than nothing", because it needs contest (that being the caption and the page title) to get the point across.
