Is it possible to see my forum violation record?

Well recently something broke down on a topic of mine and I left a comment about going to get a moderator to delete the posts with the arguing.

Before I could teh whole topic was deleted. Then I started to wonder if I was in trouble, then I realized; when do I ever know?

I have found that over the years on various sites I will often accumulate offenses, and I will not realize there is a problem until BAM! one day they bring all of them to me with some kind of temporary ban.

It really frustrates me most of the time because when I DO finally see the offenses, over half the things I didn't even realize at the time were across the line.

So in order to better adjust my behavior BEFORE I get some ban handed to me, I was wondering if there is anyway I can see my record of offenses so I know in which instances I have been wrong. Believe it or not but it's not readily apparent to me most of the time.

edit: in other words I want to know how deep of a hole I am in overall with the site, if any, and if there is anyway to find out.

Whenever a moderator thumps a post that you made, you get a PM about it. We have a tool to track these but it's private; we aren't letting everyone see that for what I hope are obvious reasons.

I doubt Eddie has any desire to implement a tool to let you examine your own thump history; it seems like unnecessary and potentially controversial work. I can promise you that we don't forum ban without massive or prolonged provocation.

Wiki-side, there are no tools per se, but a suspension can always be appealed in the forums and often we use that as the warning rather than sending PM's that may or may not be read in a timely manner.

In general, we like to keep things informal. Except in extreme cases, like outright trolling or vandalism, you'll know you're in trouble before anything permanent occurs. We don't like hard and fast rules because each ban needs to be considered on its merits and fixed rules invite Rules Lawyering.

ah.

ive only ever had... two topics locked? and been thumped once or twice as well I think.

though when my whole topic this morning was gone... i was suprized. i intended to just ask that the bickering posts be removed, but the whole thing was. Now I do not know if it would be alright to recreate it with a couple of disclaimers so that people wouldn't get hung up on the two points that were fought about. also i would reword it so that there was no miscommunication

I was sharing some personal poetry and wanted to see if anyone found them interesting or entertaining and apparently two guys got super critical about all the "teenage angst" .... and then it all went to hell.

I do not think the guy even bothered to read the second poem posted, I only posted two, but the second one as actually deep in my opinion. It was roughly about a guy's childhood abuse making it hard for him to have an emotional connection with women.

The thread was removed for containing a Flame War — you yourself were not cited as causing it; it was just that people were unable to handle it in a mature way. I'll be honest; topics like yours are tough to deal with.

0.o

Ya Ive kind of decided that the one about moving away that I posted in the On Topic conversation should just die, I got what I needed from all that was said.

I'm actually trying to get a lower profile; though the writers block forum is my comfort zone. the guys there that were part of the flame war are not even regulars to that forum as far as I know.

Though I've pretty much decided to steer clear of the On Topic Forums indefinitely, and that should help. Also that is probably the first, last, and only time I share that kind of poetry on here as well.
