[up][up] While I'm not sure i agree with that, keep in mind; Dent was trying to use a form of intimidation that would just barely work on guys like Tobias Whale and his guys. Even if you didn't know his motives, it seems pretty obvious that Batman's not the type that that kind of method would work on

Not really big news, but designer Shane Glines apparently had a design ready for Two-Face. He also designed Bruce, Gordon, Magpie, and the Ghosts for the show.

I'm sure he'll reveal it whenever he wants or can. No sense in bugging someone about it.

Plus, I don't have him on Facebook, so there's that. tongue

So, I was lurking on Twitter and stumbled upon this upcoming Deathstroke bust, specifically based on the show.

I don't think it's DC official, but considering the complete and utter lack of merchandise for this show, it's noteworthy at least.

[up]To my knowledge, Big Bad Toy Store doesn't sell unlicensed or bootlegged items and the company making the Deathstroke statue (Varner Studios) has been around since 1979 with plenty of official connections - including DC Comics. It's pretty interesting to see some new merch based on the series.

I don't blame you for being surprised though; Beware had a mediocre merchandising push.

Mattel only released one Beware The Batman figure, being Batman himself, and it wasn't even its own toyline (If I recall correctly, there was a prototype for a Professor Pyg figure as well). There was one Happy Meal promotion and Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate had him as an unlockable skin. That's pretty much it (besides some Valentine's Day cards?).

I've seen Beware the Batman last year. It was pretty great! And also very underrated, too! The acting, plots, visuals amd the music (I wish that Frederik Wiedmann could return to score another DC animated series...) were awesome, too!

Maybe we have to thank Cartoon Network screwing up this Batman series in such a manner that we don't have yet another solo Batman series?

[up] Both that show and other shows like Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice got the short end of the stick when it came to scheduling.

I remember reading that it was because of stuff like "the movie it shares heroes with turned out to be a dud" or "it was popular with the wrong demographics" or "some wacko shot up a theater showing a Batman movie". But honestly, it was almost as if the head of programming really didn't want to air the shows period.

But now the joke is probably on them since A) Young Justice is enjoying a resurgence in the DC Universe streaming app and B) WB owns Cartoon Network entirely and not just co-owns it with Turner, so maybe NOW DC cartoons can stop getting screwed with on TV?

I said that above line because some are tired of Batman being omnipresent. And also because we didn't have a Batman series since Beware the Batman (unless you count that YouTube series Batman Unlimited that had three movies).

[up]Yeah, I hope DC cartoons will be treated with respect now that CN is fully operated by WB now.

I mean, we sort of have a new Batman series with the upcoming Harley Quinn show, but yeah, we haven't really had a propery Batman cartoon since Beware.

I've given up on the show getting revived, but I would be happy with it at least being on the DC Universe. There's a lot of people that haven't seen it or finished it, and it made me a bit sad how it was the only Batman cartoon to miss out on the 80th Anniversary event the streaming platform had recently.

I don't know about CN not screwing over DC cartoons. Didn't Justice League Action get screwed over? How has CN treated DC Superhero Girls?

[up] I swear DC Superhero Girls only airs like once a week. The channel keeps on airing Teen Titans Go, Victor and Valentino, Total DramaRama, and Gumball. It's weird because DCSHG isn't even ultra actiony like GLTAS or YJ were.

Can DC Channel Hop or are they stuck with CN? CN has been treating almost all their shows poorly for ten years now.

[up] With WB wholly owning CN now and forever? Doubtful. But surely the show's also in the DC Universe app?

I don't see DC Superhero Girls as one of the cartoons on the app. I don't know why CN has such a fetish for TTG even during that show's start, but what can you do?

It looks like DC is better off making cartoons for DC Universe if all CN will care about is TTG. It's too bad that Beware the Batman also isn't on the app because that would've been one way to give an obscure Batman show some exposure.

I still remember when they tried to drum up interest in Beware by airing it on Toonami. Next to freaking Attack on Titan and Black Lagoon. The show became a punching bag for anime fans really quickly.

[up] I don't even think that was to get people interested. De Marco just liked the show and wanted it to air it SOMEWHERE if CN wasn't going to.

And just when it was starting to do okay in the ratings and even getting moved up timeslots, CN's legal department forgot to tell Toonami they were writing off the series and they had to cram the last few episodes at the last minute.

Good times. tongue

I wonder if BTB just came out a bad time. At the time, most mainstream DC fans didn't know who Katana was. But they've been pushing her in stuff like Suicide Squad and DC Superhero Girls, so she's not that foreign anymore.

If GLTAS, YJ and BATB came out off the heels of the DCAU, they'd have done better. I'm almost surprised by the lack of DC cartoons lately, if not for how bad they've been doing this past decade. In the past, films always had cartoons to go with them, but I'm still waiting on a Wonder Woman cartoon.

[up][up] Toonami is often viewed as an "anime block" when it's not. It's an "action cartoon" block. Beware the Batman fit the block perfectly fine.

[up]The problem was Y7 Beware next to all these TV-MA shows...like freaking Hellsing Ultimate. It does not fit next to that.

Beware was TV-PG, actually. It was also not the first show with that rating on the block (Thundercats, Symbionic Titan, etc.), and aside from the last-minute gun censorship, it got away with a lot more than a Y7 show would get away with.

Granted, the contrast with Hellsing is pretty great, but the other PG shows didn't get as much flack about it.

[up][up] Most Toonami shows are shonen so they're in the same demographic range as Beware the Batman.

Beware isn't even Toonami's first time airing a Batman cartoon. Reruns of "Batman: The Animated Series" (including Phastasm and Sub-Zero), "Batman Beyond", and "The Batman" (Seasons 1 and 2) used to air during Toonami's original lifespan (Awesomely narrated by Optimus Prime, I might add).

Ironically, it's more of a tradition for a Batman show to air on the block.

The same complaints over and over again: "Beware the Batman is too kiddy and un-anime for Toonami!". When the show was on Toonami, it had the most complaints. I am sick of those complaints of this type. Ugh.

To everyone, Toonami was meant from the start to be an action block, not an anime-only block. But some see it as some kind of a "VIP members only!"Explanation  club.

That said, I really enjoyed the show exactly for being CGI, having lesser-known villains introduced (but some want only the top dog villains; YMMV) and also for the music (Anarky's Leitmotif is my favorite).

[up] Oh yeah, Anarky's theme was probably my favorite. It's a bummer that WB gave up on releasing soundtracks for their newer shows just after Young Justice and Green Lantern.
