1) This is just ranting. 2) Bishonen and western-culture pretty boys are very different; Dean Winchester from Supernatural for example is a total pretty boy, but he's not androgynous enough to be a bishie.

This thread is pointless ranting. If you want to raise a genuine issue, try again with a less confrontational tone.

Pretty Boy was created because, as Fast Eddie put it, the anime fans wanted their own [[Bishonen]] trope so they split Bishonen and put all of the non-anime examples into Pretty Boy. Oh, how terribly they did it.
Pretty Boy is basically Bishonen ONLY NOT WITH ANIME CHARACTERS. In fact, they just copy and pasted the bishonens from all non-anie series into Pretty Boy. It's like they didn't even care because not only is the word bishonen used throughout the Pretty Boy article, but the Video Game examples were put into Pretty Boy. You know, because Cloud Strife isn't a Bishonen. I can't help but think that Pretty Boy was created by a guy with FUCK ANIMU written in blood on his wall.
This trope is bad. It's redundant, sloppy, and really needs to be merged back with Bishonen.
