Oh yeah, it suddenly became a lot less convoluted when I realised that Pinkie didn't swap her box with Fluttershy's box, but rather with a third box.

I thought she secretly changed boxes with Fluttershy, whose box had a piece of paper saying to open Pinkie's box.
