Once Upon A Time

They've already listed an endpoint for Go T? They haven't been managing a book per season from the start, so I'm not sure about that.

HBO's order for Game of Thrones currently extends through Season 7. It's not definite that they're going to end there, but general consensus from the creators is that if they go longer, it'll only be by a year.

And apart from A Storm of Swords taking two seasons to adapt, every other instance of not getting through all of a book's material is pretty much down to pacing. For example, a bunch of Jon's stuff in Season 5 is carried over from the end of A Storm of Swords, not because they didn't have time to do it all in Season 4, but because they didn't have time to do it in Season 4 if they wanted the Battle of Castle Black to be the season's climactic episode.

All of which is my ASOIAF-obsessed way of saying that Game of Thrones has a definite endpoint, because the novels tell a very defined story, whereas a network TV series doesn't operate in the kind of environment that allows for that kind of creative process. Lost is an outlier because its end date was decided over three years in advance. Most successful network shows will know they're ending going into their final year, and not before.

I'm just gonna assume Melificent and Will were in the bathroom during that last scene in the diner. Kinda weird that neither of them appeared in the season finale.

I was kinda bummed that Henry broke the Author's pen.

I worried that Zelena was going to get killed off. But, from the looks of things, she'll still be around next season.

Isaac didn't have to put any of the Queens of Darkness's happy endings in his story because two of them got their happy endings and the third one was dead.

Will was just...unneeded.

Edit: I can't really blame Henry for doing it. I mean, he's seen what happens when someone abuses the power, and he had just admitted he was tempted to use it to try and bring back his dad (the one thing he couldn't do). He likely felt that he couldn't trust himself not to try and abuse the power.

In the long run, keeping it so he could write, and then Rumple died, and the darkness sat in a corner like a bitch would be useful, but you know what they say about Hindsight.

Harsher or Hilarious?

Because the darkness literally sitting in the corner like a bitch is really a hilarious image.

Fiction can never agree on the reversability of death. In Supernatural people can die and come back like walking through Death's revolving door. In Once Upon a Time "dead is dead", unless you're trading a life for somebody else's.

But as far as fantasy goes, if you can keep a soul intact I think you can reform a body back around it. Death being permanent in this show is just how you keep the drama up, even if it's inconvenient.

But at least there's always ghosts, flashbacks and haunting visions (I'm looking at you, Belle in Neverland).

Of course... Jorge Garcia shows up and I know the character he plays is going to have one of the saddest backstories in the whole show. At first I thought he'd be a one-off villain, but nope.

Nope. "Last of the giants", of course.

Walking through the library, i suddenly got an idea...

You know who's story would be as interesting or even moreso than the than the Author?

...the Illustrator.

Where was he that he was making near-photographic images in the book?

Especially of things that didn't even happen like Regina kissing Robin.

Does anybody else feel like Season 4 was lackluster compared to Season 3? Regina was one of the few things that kept me from turning the channel. I'm not sure where the show will go with Emma being the Dark One and I'm not really looking forward to it, surprisingly. I felt like the show went under at some point, but where I don't know.

I'll be interested in seeing what Emma Dark One does and how she looks. I'm not sure if the rest of the show will keep my attention in season five.

I hope she puts on a conceited Dark One outfit.

I also wish that that the show would stay focused on her and how it feels being dark.

I can't help but think Emma won't be dark for too long if Hook is around.

I hope they bring in the Princess and the Frog story for next season. I've been wanting this since S3. Maybe Emma could gain some friends from the other side

Tiana and Facilier were from New Orleans.

With magic, but still.

Well, Alice & the Red Queen were from an AU version of London. Who says a magical alternate New Orleans doesn't exist, too?

I still don't know how to feel about dark Swan. It seems like they ran out of ideas so they threw up a bunch of what ifs scenarios and bam we have dark Emma. What could they possibly explore? If anything, it seems like it's going to be about everyone else's reaction. Snow and Charming will be in despair, Regina will step up and be the Big Damn Hero once again, Henry is gonna go all operation black swan and save Emma, and Hook... Idk.

I do look forward to seeing Chernabog again. Hopefully he'll make another appearance in S5.

Emma had been the savior for so long that the rest of the town sort of just acted around her.

Now that she's the villain either her family is going to have more of the hero focus or it's going to be about her, evil and alone, learning what it's like to be a villain.

I hope for the latter. Though there's only so much you can do as a solo agent.

But she better have a hot evil outfit.

I'd rather her just have an 'attractive evil outfit' and not some 'I'm evil so now I wear absurdly tight leather outfits and you can all but see my tiddies' kind of thing. Blech.

...i.e. Something that's not 90% of the Evil Queen's wardrobe.

Just something that compliments her very well... Maybe something that compliments well with Hook's outfit too???

It should just be something showing her embracing her evil side. Regina always loved the tight dresses, and evil queen Snow wore it too. Rumplestiltskin loved the snake skin when he was being the Dark One, but as for Emma...

She'd probably at least love Henry, like Rumple loved Baelfire.

She's always wearing that lovely red leather jacket. They could just do a 'dark' version of that outfit in terms of how it fits on Emma (I think it was paired with a white sweater, so maybe a dark grey top?) and its colors (Black Leather instead of red, etc)
