Latin America violently seceded from the Spanish in the 19th century. Romania violently overthrew Ceaucescu. Quite a few tyrants have been violently overthrown throughout history.

You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it.Since this is a discussion on gun control, if nobody said that before (I'm thread-hopping here), then I'll point out the revolt in question should be done primarily by armed civilians, not the army turning rebel.
"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"Thanks for the examples Savage. Thoug I must regretfully note that it just occurred to me that the US government born from the revolution wasn't really a non-oppressive government. My sincere apologies to all African Americans and women.

Laws are made to be broken. You're next, thermodynamics. It was non-oppressive by the standards of the time, which is saying quite a bit considering the period...
I am now known as Flyboy.Okay but that goes to show gun control is perfectly fine then because the governments were overthrown despite major gun control.
I don't know the details of Romanian takeover, but I wouldn't put money on it succeeding thanks to the civilians owning a noticeable number of weapons.
( okay, so I came late, so I won't dig up this thread but just edit this post. Black market in guns in Warsaw Pact, a massive one? That's news to me.)

"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"Warsaw Pact countries had such an amount of black market guns it's not even funny. Same goes for Latin America's successive revolutions, especially in the 19th and 20th centuries.
