I have heard arguments to remove public schools because they teach illegal immigrants (eyeroll)

That's an argument to crack down on illegal immigrants.

Frankly, it's been proven to me that although taxing and spending suck in the hands of a stupid government, not taxing and not spending are worse. So, might as well go with the better of the two suck-y options...

[Hopey's view of the Western electorate has dropped from DISAPPROVING to ONE NATION UNDER DRUGS.]

Some people here want to execute the rioters, even though most of them stole about £100 worth of stuff and getting years in prison, but M Ps who fiddled expenses of £20K get slightly less than most in the riots...

Why is "Taxing and Spending" a bad thing?

Mainly because it leads to government bloat with nothing permanent in the positive for the economy. The government grows and grows but it fails to alleviate either the downturns or get rid of them entirely. The economic cycles just keep chugging along.

There's also the secondary problem, the more power and more money the government can spend, the more power and ability it has to control you and take away your freedoms.

Funny how you seem completely unafraid of giving the power to control your life to corporations instead.

I'm sure theyre totally out for your benefit.

[up]Hey,I think its both coperations and government we all need to keep our eyes on.Besides its always good to keep your friends close and your enemies closer.Coperations actually only create and sell stuff and don't create laws for my life that affect unless they are involve in a monoply or a merger.

^^ At least I can choose not to do business with them. I can't choose not to do business with the government.

Until they become a monopoly because theres no government controls on them and therefore you buy from them or get nothing.

Oh wait. forgot. you'll just go live in a cave and survive off rabbit traps.

Yes, people of the "corporations are better camp" miss that:

  • 1) No government regulation means we'll have monopolies up the ass.
  • 2) Corporations are restricted from controlling us like we fear the government doing by the government.
  • 3) Corporations are generally out for profit, not for our welfare. Our welfare is a tertiary concern of theirs at best.

If all companies ran like Henry Ford ran his company, then yes, that might not be so bad. They sure as hell don't run them like Henry Ford did, though.

Give the politicians enough power to begin with, you will no longer have the right nor privilege to vote. How do you think tyrannies emerge?

When any group get too much power. Like a monopoly, for instance. At least our government is too slow to be as credible of an oppressor.

So 100% of the time governments become tyrannies, while corporations will always serve the people no matter what?

[up][up][up] You are one person. Good luck convincing even 1/4 of all the people who shop at Walmart to shop somewhere else. And for alot of cases, they can't

Also could you imagine a private fire fighting force or police force? Brr...

[up] Unless the person was horribly disfigured in an accident.

I don't see whats wrong with taxes honestly. Maybe its because I'm aware of the importance they have. Funding schools, police, roads, all the things I take for granted.

Remove them and we live in a worse situation.

Let's take the plastic surgery for an example; a group of people are asked to raise some money to help with a cause they give them the money but find out later that it was spent on a boob job instead of correcting the mistakes.

Taxes are needed to pay for our every day things but sometimes they can be wasted on things that don't really need spending. However,if that's not your state's case then my advice is useless and you will get mad at me for being an idiot.

Yeah, taxes are good but there are boobs were spend it sometimes on stupid stuff.

However, you have a point about spending it on schools and other necessities.

Well those moments of stupid spending should be fixed.

But instead people argue for the easier solution and just say "scrap it all together"

Firefighters used to be owned by insurance companies. When you signed up for coverage, you got a plaque which you bolted to your house to be visible to the firefighters. When a fire broke out, multiple firefighter teams from multiple insurance companies would arrive. If you were not protected by their company, they would turn around and go home. And if your street was clogged by firefighters? Too bad.

So yes, I would rather have a government spending money on a monopoly of firefighters who send out only the amount of firefighters needed to put out the fire, for relatively little for little amounts of fuel in a speedy and efficient and official matter.

The opposition comes from the notion that what we're already being taxed is going to idiotic things or private interests, and that the Tax and Spend mentality will just blindly piss more money down a hole with the added bonus of the general populace having less money when we should be stopping the whole thing from leaking in the first place.

^ Our fire department has been closed altogether for like four days out of the week for years. So while it's a step up in integrity, it's not like public funding just magically fixes things either.

^ And every new initiative by government is progressive and the right thing? The deaths of some 20 million Chinese during the Great Leap Forward say otherwise.

I'm sorry to hear that, Pykrete. I find that to be a horrible mismanagement of funds. But I would rather have publicly funded insurance instead of privately funded insurance.

China did bad things. Therefore governments everywhere are terrible and should be abolished in favor of the united states of Walmart!
