George Bush Sr. or George Bush Jr.?

I'm probably one of the few people old enough to actually remember when GHWB was elected, but there wasn't anything of the sorts. Hell, Reconstructionism/Dominionism were not even on the radar back then.*

GWB? I was one of the few reading blog posts back then. I actually ran the IRC chat for probably THE major liberal blog back then. (Before they were blogs). There wasn't that much concern about Reconstructionism then either. It was mostly concerns that GWB was basically a puppet for Cheney (which apparently for the first 4 years was pretty much true). But religious stuff? Not that much. If there was any it was much more traditional issues based.

  • One thing you should realize is that the election of Bill Clinton "radicalized" a lot of the right. It's the same thing with the election of Obama. What was once fringe is now mainstream, and all that.

I don't think there was any significant dominionist angle about George Bush in that election.

Of course, Pat Buchanan was running that year. If anyone was being accused of dominionism in 2000, it probably would have been him.

It looks like Mr.Perry's following is losing steam so if you worry about him promoting Dominionism then you could be less worried.Because it seems he lost his spunk in the last debate and people are going more over to Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.

Lol at a man losing his spunk but Why is Rommey the only one not preaching this even though he is religious to his core?

Because he realized moderate support is kinda useful?

Because one can be personally very religious without being professionally religious and enforcing it on others?

For all the flak many(including myself) give Bush Jr, he was a very religious man personally, but didn't push it on the American people by any means. Romney could be capable of the same.

Because he's a Mormon, and they tend to keep their religio to themselves if they want to be successful.

Yeah, I mean, as much as I disliked Bush talking about "talking to God eh heh heh heh," he really wasn't oppressive in the religious sense.

The funny thing is that even Bush jr hates Rick Perry for some reason but I don't really know.Which one did you like better as govenor Bush or Perry and this one is directed at Ace of Spades.

I wonder what would have happened if Dominionists were considering endorsing Bush.

As I said above, the surge in these sorts of things only really happened once it was clear that Obama was going to run away with it.

Okay, I don't know why you're talking to me given I wasn't even in this conversation before, but whatever.

I don't remember much of when Bush was governor. I was a little kid, and didn't even know he existed until he ran for president. I didn't even know he'd been a Texas governor till he ran the second time, which was the first time I was old enough to vote in a presidential election.

Rick Perry has a severe problem starting with- Trying to force parents to vaccinate their daughters for a sexual disease, taking money away from the city of Houston that was intended to improve their public transportation, gutting the education budget, having a man executed amidst controversy about whether or not the man had received adequate council/wanted to see a Mexican representative (or whatever the position is named) and essentially ignoring him, and lately being a dick about Obama not helping out Texas during the fires after Perry himself turned down some sort of federal aid for emergencies before the fires occurred, and being a pissy bitch when Obama visited El Paso.

Perry is not walking the Christian walk at all. He's not even being a good politician.

Ace@So,my good liberal Texas man what would you say the differences between Georgie and Rickie are and that the vaccination thing has become a point that has made the guy a target from the other canidates running.

Hey,look on the bright side maybe the Domionists will stop supporting Perry if they see him for what he is.Or other Christians at least go to either Romney,Ron Paul,or someone else. You can hope that Perry gets into a scandal that will get voters to not back him up.

I'm a woman. I find it strange that I seem to come off as a guy to so many people. Also, while I count myself liberal, I also count myself a Christian. Not exactly church going, but I haven't given up my faith.

But yeah, see, the problem with Dominionism is that Perry will pander to them in order to get their vote. They will, in some way, support him, most likely financially. Dominionists are not in this out of the goodness of their hearts. I think if you met one face to face you would be severely shocked by their attitudes.

Ace@In my opinion your feelings toward the guy are the same feelings I have toward Jerry Brown who failed as Govenor in the 70's but they voters put him back in anyway.I know people hated Meg Whitman but couldn't they have picked a better canidate for Democratic choice is my question.

I don't think I have seen at least an extreme Dominionist because I live in California.I think I only met lesser Dominionists that are nice and are not unpleasant toward Non-Christians.

Pro-tip: Chances are those people you met? They're probably not Dominionists/reconstructionists, I don't say that to put you or them down. Just that actual honest to goodness Dominionism is something that's more popular among people with power, which probably isn't the people you're meeting.

I could be wrong however.

That said, I have to point out that just because someone acts nice doesn't mean that they are nice. A lot of time people put the proverbial iron fist in the velvet glove (quite frankly it probably happens more than an outright iron fist). The proof of the pudding is in the eating and all that.

Not to stray too far, but Whitman didn't know dick about how a government economy works, that's why she didn't win. We're not a "for-profit" organization.

Anywho, those types aren't common here in California Joyflower. I've seen some pretty far right radical Christians in some of the conservative strongholds of Southern Cali(I grew up in one, for instance) but nobody as blind and foolish as the people worthy of the Dominionist label.

Barkely@I have lived in the Bay Area my whole life so I have no good idea about Southern California. However, I still think they should have chosen wiser for govenor.

On topic:I think maybe I haven't really seen a Dominionist or I am getting things mixed up because I wonder what they are in real life.

So,I am wondering do you the KKK could be considered a Dominionist group or is it just a hate group.

While they have some Christian roots tying them together, they are more about white supremacy as opposed to Christian supremacy, which is the calling card of the Dominionists.
