For centuries Black people have some footing or influence in the American politcs since the day America was fully founded the issues of slavery to the issues of unemployment.

I was thinking since its poltical season again and alot of people in the black community are going to either go for Barack Obama again or vote for someone else.

Plus I always like discussing how the black vote is really seen as the deciding point for many Democratic canidates.

Obama got something like 90% of black voters last election, there's no reason to believe that's changed drastically. Although the number of voters overall will most likely be down this election so capturing the same number of black voters this go around could be important.

Well considering black people make up quite a larger percentage of the American population you would expect there to be a great deal of involvement :)

But if your question is more specific to Obama, I would not expect their support to have changed much except maybe to have gotten galvanised. The Tea Party certainly makes it seem that if they vote Republican, they'd be race traitors. There's been several Teabaggers that have been openly racist, so I think it hard for a black person to vote for anybody in the entire Republican party thereafter. Only really takes one racist in the party to ruin the entire situation.

Like I said if the tea party got rid of all their racists then they could find more recruits across the color isle.I am also thinking that maybe the tea party could get support from smaller businesses instead of the big ones in order to draw in more people. An even better idea is to adress more racial problems in this country with conservative leanings.

They influence politics most by controlling the media.

... wait.

Well the sad part is that the original teabaggers were just low-end Americans fed up with the corruption and waste in politics. Then the actual teabaggers that got to power were religious fanatics, racists and most ironic of all, corrupt-big-business collusion guys.

Not all relgious people are evil fanatics who want a theocracy.I do admit the tea party needs to throw out the racists and just find some other support from somewhere else. However,I think they could be get support from some corporations that are good and just cut off the bad ones.

I think the Black influence on politics can be seen in the last 30 years as a great factor in electing people into office.

People exaggerate the racists a little too much to the point its a stupid stereotype.I understand you don't want racists invading but I think the stories juice up the racists too much.

[up] I've had my father, who is one of the people who organized many of the protests in the Dallas region, suggest that the reason Blacks are disproportionately poor in this country is solely because they are lazy. I then had the pleasure of seeing two of his friends agree with him. There are certainly racists in the tea party, although I am aware this is solely a personal anecdote.

Yeah, the lazy steroetype will have to go but then again Texas always did have that ugly racist thing that is always hard to get rid of.But yeah different tea parties equal different group of people.I think it would be good to get more conservative people about those in poverty in order to ge them to have more sympathy and to possibly organize groups to help those who are stuggling.

I think the Tea Party does need is some biblical standing but that on a compassionate scale for helping those who are in need. It's worked in the past with Blacks in the community.I think thats another thing that Blacks in the past had was a sense of community and the struggle to help one another in times of need.

[up] This is so. The one positive element of the tea party, from my perspective, is that it's reestablishing a sense of community. Unfortunately, this community energy is being used in hateful, rather than helpful, ways.

I don't know what all tea parties are like but I think some do better that bring in more minorities into their bases.Like I said I won't give up hope because like you said this could be used for good instead of evil. One thing I have to say is that as a conservative proverty is a result of many different things but the most important thing is that you can act in the community around you and not judge the person that is on the street.

Like you said I am sorry your father feels that way because its really sad.
