Thats because Michigan has no money.
I figured as much. I think there needs to be some kind of drive to change or promote new industries. Not austerity measures combined with tax cuts. That'll just screw you forever.
We WERE attracting the movie industry with tax breaks for them.
Then Snyder ended those as soon as he got into office...
I am skeptical of the positive impact of tax breaks on the movie industry.
Also: Tax cuts are just a race to the bottom, a way for Michigan to hopefully steal some economy from New York or something. If we had any sense, we'd have the states work together, with some kind of government that represents all of them, united in some kind of fashion.
But THAT sure as hell isn't happening.
I don't want to celebrate too soon... it sounds like they could just try again, only granting the appropriate notification time, so this could just be a delay. Nonetheless, is good news. I hope Thorn's paying attention. :)
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.41,000 is not enough. It should be everyone, dammit.
Revolution in Michigan, baby! Simple as that. And may it spread to fix my broken and dooomed hellhole of nation, before we ALL turn to violent revolution and anrachy without end.
I, the Doomsayer, have spoken.

This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioYou would be correct. It's a halting, not an overturning, basically giving recipients one more month.

This law NEEDS an overturning. That is all - before Michigan becomes a desert wasteland like that of a Renegade movie!

How long before they can give this another go?
EDIT: Ninja'd. Damn, only one month? Not enough time to get that shit overturned...

Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.Looks like people-protestin'-style action against gov't is needed here, then. I'm so sorry. But either way, I'm getting a show of ture heroism if it happens!
This is an opportunity for the Middle/Working/Poor to be reminded to fight against things like this...Not just this one state.

This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioScrew violence, that's not how we made it work in Seattle in 1919.
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.I'm talking protests and complaining first, like with the Wall St. thing.
Violence comes when desperate times call for desperate measures... They only SEEM desperate in Michigan. And they'll move before they turn their land into a war-zone, anyway (Only those who truly get desperate enough might stay and do that if they don't get their way).
BTW, enlighten me on Seattle in 1919. I'm willing to learn, if you willing to give me a link.

This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioI'm worried about how violence would play out if we actually had it hit Detroit. Imagine the scandal if the national guard got called in to quell a riot. Oiy vey.
Don't get me started on Fucking Detroit.
And it's not just them. Michigan has been screwed enough for this to affect everyone there - and not just by this topic.
This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioMWAHAHAHAH I NINJA YOU!
Although to be honest, Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States has a much better accounting, with more detail on why the strike was begun and ended.
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.and Thank you. But with less and less unions around, someting like this is going to be harder to do than the Wall St. thing was, especially with a unified voice.

This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioFrom the look of the wikipedia article it sounds like it was a resounding failure. Not exactly an adequate banner to rally support...
A protest is a protest is a protest.
They did it because they knew it was the right thing to do. It shouldn't be any different now, unless most Americans really are cowards.
This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioWell, most of everyone is a coward and/or stupid, so there's the problem.
In B 4 "I blame their lust for more money and lack of good eductaion." Something i'd expect someone who is rich or better off to say!

Ah ha, so my plan for a silent takeover IS working.
So, I was just wondering... it seems like the vast majority of the spending for everything in Michigan is funded by the Federal government.
