They look like humans to me.

This is intentional in both cases (the zihim and kalak looking similar, and them looking humanoid). The Kalak are a subspecies of the Zihim that have adapted to the planet they are stranded on. The lack of natural light-with the exception of constant lightning- has brought about a change in what they need in order to survive. Both the Zihim and Kalak look like humans because the humanoid shape is, in this 'verse, very common. The Rakshin and Carthane, you'll notice, barely resemble humans at all, but still have the same kind of structure.

I do in fact have a somewhat non-humanoid race in the works, The Rizarra, a gelatinous, semi-hive-minded race that is the main and oldest beneficiary of technology, thanks to the hive-mind and wide distribution of the species across the stars.

I also at one point thought of including bipedal lizard men, but then decided to see if I could just make them sentient reptiles. Those might be on the DA soon too.
