The Manor Is Not Enough - Maid RPG

With a look of incredible reluctance Hitsugi turned to the elf-eared girl standing next to the prisoner. "Junko, could you see if you can do anything with this? Maybe see if there are any messages that have been erased?" Hitsugi suspected that there wouldn't be, since it was a disposable phone and looked relatively new, but it couldn't hurt to check.

"Just don't break it!" Hitsugi hissed, holding on to the phone until Junko agreed. "The guy is supposed to check in later, so it needs to be working when we figure out what to do." She'd been tempted to send back a message that the mansion staff was compromised and the papers were already gone, but it would have been weird for him to check in so soon after starting his search.

Dan Jobsem, dressed in his tuxedo, walks in casually. "My, my..." he says, looking at the OFFE agent. "His Darkness is really scraping the bottom of the barrel these days, isn't he?"

The man snarls, struggling in his restraints. "All hail OFFE! Order will fall!"

"Yeah, yeah." Dan says, rolling his eyes. "Order will fall, cats and dogs will live together, I've heard all that before. His Dork-ness really needs to hire a new speech writer. Now, why is OFFE bothering me when I'm on vacation?"

"Ha! OFFE cannot be fooled so easily!" the man snarls. "You are on assignment from your Agency With No Name! You are guarding top secret McGuffin papers, if you can call this 'guarding'!"

The man looks around, at the maids. "Did he tell you? His cover is that he is taking a break. That is why the house is not ringed with guards, why he cannot simply drag me back to headquarters to be interrogated. All he has is a bunch of helpless females to help him guard one of the most important set of documents ever created!"

Dan frowns. "What makes you think I have these Mc Muffin papers?"

"I heard you! Listening at window!" the man snarls. "His Darkness is not so easily fooled!"

"Oh, really? Ask him sometime about about the crate of pinball machine parts he thought were an Omega-Bomb." Dan unfastens the man from the chair, leaving the handcuffs on. "I'm going to take him to... a secure area. You all go outside and make sure he didn't drop anything else."

"Yes sir," Lisbeth slipped over to the sideboard, retrieving the gin and vermouth. Mixing the two ingredients together with ice for a moderately dry drink the maid carefully strained the alcohol mixture into the Matini glass before returning to hand the glass to Dan. She shrugged slightly, "I don't think so sir, he seemed to be having some trouble with his cellphone."

Dan holds the prisoner in a one arm judo hold and takes the glass in his other hand. He sips it and nods. "Perfect. Just go and check anyway."

Dan exits the room, taking the prisoner with him.

Please post for each maid if they go out and search the yard, if they try to see where Dan takes the mook, or what they do otherwise.

"Ah! Junko is... er... taking a look at the phone," Hitsugi explained with an uncertain grimace. She nodded over to the corner where the girl in the green dress was hunched over something small and sparking, the scent of hot solder hanging in the air.

As Dan walked past her Hitsugi shot him the evil eye. "He right, you know," she growled low enough for the Master's ear alone. "If an organization as idiotic as his could figure it out, then pretending to be 'on vacation' really is a rather flimsy plan to risk the lives of innocent bystanders on."

Once the Master was out of the room, Hitsugi looked around at her co-workers, her gaze lingering for an extra moment on the German girl. If the Master ordered it then Lisbeth definitely wouldn't hear two words of protest about going outside and searching for more intruders. As if they're all going to be as incompetent as that fool...

Running her fingers through her fair hair or a few tense moments, Hitsugi slumped and walked back over to the fireplace. Grabbing the poker, she jabbed the secret switch once more and collected the two shotguns. "Have any of you ever been hunting?" she asked, holding one gun under her arm while she checked the action of the other.

"I prefer not to use guns," Kyla said, extending her fingernails like claws. "Not that I have anything against them, mind you."

"Mm. I appreciate the offer Miss Hitsugi," Lisbeth was already a few steps into the foyer heading for the front door. Mentally flexing her wings, she was in a rush to get outside the view of her fellow maids and start searching, "But if I need a gun, I'll be able to find one."

Hitsugi ground her teeth as Lisbeth took off on her own while she was still busy checking the guns. Way to play it safe, lapdog! Does nobody here see the wisdom in sticking together? Shooting a glance over her shoulder at Junko, still busy with the phone, Hitsugi went back to the window and locked it again.

"Stay inside; we'll be back soon," Hitsugi called to the scientist, then nodded at Kyla - before realizing that the blind girl wouldn't be able to see it. "Let's go," she added testily, holding the guns low and ready to be fired from the hip.

"Alright."

Hitsugi and Kyla walk arround the yard, sticking close as they search. Hitsugi doesn't find anything. Kyla finds, in the grass, a small device about the size of a cell phone. According to the engraved title on the box, the device is a hidden door locator.

As Lisbeth prepared to embark on her search, she stepped just a little to far and fell face first off the steps into a heap.

Seeing no reason not to tell the truth, Kyla shows the boxy device she found. "If I'm feeling the engravings right, it's a hidden door locator. That agent was probably using it to look for a way in."

"Is that so?" Hitsugi wondered, peering skeptically at the box. "Man, they really are idiots," she muttered under her breath, perhaps not quietly enough. "I'll bet they paid ten times what that thing is worth; they could've just bought a £10 stud finder at Wickes..."

Looking back to Kyla, Hitsugi motioned with the guns. "Maybe we should have Junko take look at that when we get back," she suggested in a louder voice. "For now, though, we should probably finish up here and get back."

"Alright," Kyla said, pocketing the device. "Hopefully Junko has made some progress on that phone."

"Indeed," Hitsugi agreed, though she didn't really want to think about what that 'progress' might entail.

As the two maids circled back around toward the entrance Hitsugi felt a surge of panic rise up in her throat as she noticed a certain irritating, blue-dressed maid splayed out on in the moonlight on the front steps of the manor. "Lisbeth! Are you hurt?" she hissed urgently, pulling Kyla down to crouch in the bushes as she scanned the shadows for ambushers.

The German maid sighed. After the sudden impact Lisbeth had been stunned enough by her own ineptitude she hadn't managed to stand up yet. Pushing herself upright, her cheeks colored slightly, "No need to hide in the bushes. I tripped."

"Oh..." Feeling a bit silly herself, Hitsugi carefully stood up and moved closer, though she did keep in the shadows as much as possible. "We didn't find anything especially interesting around back," she explained, before adopting a scolding pose with one shotgun laid across her shoulder and the tip of the other waving around like a school mistress's pointer.

"Really, though! It was very silly of you to run off alone like that! What if there had been others? What if one had snuck up on you after you tripped?" Scowling, Hitsugi pouted for a moment longer before lowering her guns. "Well, whatever; shall we go inside? I am sure the Master will be thrilled to hear that none of us were shot or kidnapped while he wasn't looking..."

"Well, be more careful next time," Kyla said. "Anyway, yes, we should head in."

"Mm," Lisbeth nodded noncommittally, since anything else would probably give away more to her co-workers then she desired.

As the three maids trooped up to the front door Hitsugi put one shotgun under her arm and held out her hand to Kyla. "I will go see what Junko can make of that box if you would like to tell the Master what we found," she suggested with an edge of irritation; clearly she was still upset with Dan for putting them in this position and she didn't want to speak to him.

"Alright," Kyla says, handing over the device. "Just remember that it's not his fault that we're in this mess." With that said, Kyla goes to give Dan her report.

"Okay let's see here...." says Junko after taking the phone to her junk filled room. "Where did I put that thing...." she starts digging through the piles of unidentifiable machines she's got strewn around. "Let's see cell phone analysier....Ahh there it is. Let's see what we can do with this..."

Kyla finds Dan sitting in his office. She handed over the device and reported their results.

"Good work finding this." he tells the blind girl. "I've got the mook locked up downstairs. I plan to see if he has anything to say in the morning."

Dan puts the hidden door detector down in the top drawer of his desk. "If he won't tell us what forces OFFE has in the area, we can always threaten to have you suck his blood" (Last said in cheesy Transylvanian accent.)

He stand up. "I'll go see if there's any news about the cell phone... why don't you go head upstairs and relax with a nice hot bath?"

Kyla giggled at the "suck his blood" remark, and went upstairs to the bath.
