The Manor Is Not Enough - Maid RPG

Once again reaching into her pocket, Lisbeth produced a pair of metal handcuffs that had formerly been resting in one of the drawers in her quarters. Handing them over to Hitsugi, she reached out the window to retrieve and examine the discarded trousers. Once she had some idea of the man's identity, then she would go to Mr. Jobsem.

Accepting the handcuffs, Hitsugi peered at them curiously for a moment. With the way she always seemed to have 'the right tool for the job,' sometimes Hitsugi wondered if Lisbeth just went around the mansion pocketing anything that wasn't nailed down. Where would she have found these though?

Shaking her head, Hitsugi cuffed the burglar behind his back and then frisked him to make sure that he wasn't carrying anything dangerous or suspicious, such as a set of small lock picks. That done, she propped him upright in a chair so that Kyla could tie him properly and took a better look at their 'prisoner.'

Hitsugi was immediately struck by a pang of guilt as her eyes passed over the burns and bleeding gash on his scalp. Perhaps the red hot poker was a bit much... While the blind girl finished with his bindings Hitsugi took a napkin from her pocket and, after dousing it with some vodka from the bar, began dabbing gingerly at the man's wounds.

Rifling through the man's unhelpful possessions, Lisbeth sighed before pocketing them. He'd known what he was doing, that's for sure. It wasn't much but she might as well go ahead and inform Master Daniel what he missed. As soon as she was sure they'd have a live body to question when she returned. Lisbeth leaned over Hitsugi's shoulder, "Is he going to live?"

Hitsugi nodded slowly, her expression once again set in a neutral scowl. "The head wound doesn't appear to be serious. In fact-" Cutting off, she quickly pulled her hand away from the man's face as his eyes began to flutter open.

The man jerks awake, straining at the handcuffs. After a moment, he looks up at Hitsugi. "Release me!" he demands. His voice has a trace of a foreign accent, but it's impossible to identify. "Release me or suffer the same fate as your false master! The fate of all who oppose OFFE!"

"Off? Is that what your organization is called?" Kyla faces the mook, despite not being able or needing to actually look at him.

"We are the Organization For Fragmenting Everything!" the man snarls. "Soon, the world will be dissolved into primal chaos. You may either embrace it or be destroyed. We are ruthless to our enemies.". He looks over the maids, then gets a cunning look on his face. "But we are generous to our friends."

"I'm not sure I like that," Kyla replied. "If the world falls into chaos, that'll reduce my pay. I may not even get paid at all."

The man looks at Kyla and Hitsugi. "Jobsem has already admitted to lying to you, to putting you at risk. Serve OFFE, and you will have all the money you could ever want. If you wish, this manor itself could be yours. All you have to do is help me to find and take the McGuffin Papers."

"Jobsem didn't tell us before because he didn't have a reason to," Kyla retorts. "And while the money is tempting, the whole chaos part will kinda negate that."

"Chaos will rise! Order shall fall!" the man yells. "Brother shall turn against brother, father against son! All will bow before OFFE! When I do not report, my superiors will send others. More men, until this mansion is torn apart, brick by brick, just as the governments of the world will be undone!"

"Give me a break," Kyla said. "Just one of us was able to take you without even making an effort. How tough can the rest of your big bad organization be?"

"I- I wouldn't say that it took 'no effort,'" Hitsugi interjected, blushing slightly despite her scowl, "and I'm still not convinced about the Master's 'reason' for telling us now," Putting one fist on her hip, she waved down at the ranting man. "I mean, look at the kind of delusional morons he attracts! How can you not call it irresponsible, that he would rope a group of menials into this sort of idiocy?"

"Eh told or not we'd have gotten roped into the whole mess eventually." says Junko who apparantly either has a great deal of confidence in the others, or was just feeling lazy it's hard to tell. "It's best to at least have a vague idea what's going on." As she speaks she pull out a very larger hammer. "Now would anyone mind if I shut our ranting friend up for a while?"

"Be my guest," Kyla said, stepping out of Junko's way.

"We'd not have gotten dragged into this mess if the Master had, say, sent us off beforehand and filled his mansion with friendly agents posing as maids," Hitsugi pointed out crossly. "I expect that would have been a safer choice all around. None of us... would have... been, well, here anyway..."

As she spoke, Hitsugi turned to peer suspiciously at the other maids, as if to say 'Right? None of you, my dear coworkers, is really a spy, right?' Then another thought seemed to occur to her. "By the way, has anyone seen his phone?" she asked, waving at the bound man. "You said he was talking on a phone, yes?" she added, turning to Kyla.

Slipping out of the room without answering, she hurried upstairs to the master bedroom to alert her master to the intrusion. If he didn't know already and was merely waiting to see how they reacted that was. In which case, Lisbeth frowned, she would be most disappointed in him.

The man glares defiantly and takes a deep breath. "I will tell you nothing accept about OFFE's magnificent destiny to topple the decadent empires of the world, its munificent largesse in rewarding those who hasten the inevitable day of OFFE's triumph, and the horrible suffering of those who foolishly attempt to delay OFFE in its glorous quest!" he says, managing to spit that sentence out in a single breath.

Dan is sitting in the sitting room of his suite, reading 'The Art of War and Peace'. "Oh, hello Lisbeth." he says, placing a bookmark into the thick tome. "Have you and the maids reached any decision yet about staying?"

"Point taken. Course for all we know we could all be spys and each working for someone different." says Junko. "Hmm...actually thinking about it might be best to wait for the master before sending this guy to dream land, much as I'd like to shut him up...A cellphone eh? Hmmm this might be a good time to try that new invention of mine..." her eyes get a distinct glint to them as she says that last part.

Lisbeth didn't out and out salute, but she did come to attention. After all he wasn't sitting in front of a bank of CCTV monitors watching them, "Of course I will be staying sir. No one else has made a formal decision, but I think they will. Miss Kaburagi will no doubt keep complaining about the situation to the very end, while Miss Kyla seems primarily interested in the pay." The maid shrugged.

"There's one more matter sir, a man from OFFE," She spat out the acronym as if tasting some of Junko's 'pie', "Attempted to breech the premises. He made it across the grounds before Miss Kaburagi stopped him with some.... pyrotechnics."

Dan smiles. "I'm glad to hear that your planning to stay." He jerks upright. "An OFFE agent? Here? Already? Did he get off any messages?"

"Just a moment, I need to change."

Dan walks into his bedroom and then into his closet. After several minutes he comes out, dressed in a tuxedo, black wingtip shoes, and with a gold Rolex on his wrist. "A bit ostentatious, I know, but one must maintain appearances. Be a love and go fix me a martini, will you?"

Kyla nods and pulls out the cheap, disposable cell phone that the mook dropped. "He was using this. I think he may have finished sending a message before you captured him."

Hitsugi looks at the cell phone. The screen is displaying a message:

'McGuffin Papers Here - Unguarded - Send Attack Squad now. - Snookums'

The infiltrator dropped the phone just before he was able to press the send button.

"Hmm..." Holding the phone with one hand, Hitsugi wandered back to the side of the window to peer at the darkened grounds out of the corner of one eye as she examined it. *
