That's not ironic. If anything, that makes sense: if there's more danger you'll need better healthcare.

It's ironic that, in the past year or so I've gotten more conservative in my thinking and practices than ever before, (not socially though), and convinced that only the motivated and sure of themselves really make it in the world; despite that, I'm also more in favor of universal healthcare than ever before. I simply do not see it being available as a demotivator. If anything I can see it as a boon for those who WOULD be more motivated if they got the care currently denied them. Just as honesty, courage, and generosity are virtues, health is one as well. The only argument against it seems to be from people who think they can do without any sort of care, but they're a vanishing minority, or think they can control every aspect of their health when so many problems are completely outside your control.

So I'll support UHC for as long as it takes to realize itself, debt crisis wolf criers be damned.
